    I remember that can cooler. Set in the floor of the milk shed.

    This was in the early 50s. My uncle's was gone by mid 50s. Probably new regs on raw milk storage.

    We used to milk into cans, but upgraded to grade A which required pipelines and a bulk tank. I had an uncle who milked into the 1980's who still milked into cans. Then again, he also never stopped using horses instead of tractors. I got to make use of his can tank only when I would help him with threshing--that's where he stored the beer for the end of the day. A few bottles of cold Pfeiffer's out of that tank was pretty good after a long day in the sun--especially when you're 13!
