[QUOTE=Hirlau;1634048]I'm going for this next month ,, with a 20% coupon too.
I'm going to use it for my snaps, stamps, doomed washers,,, all kinds of stuff.
A good little unit. But, betcha you use it more in hammer mode than press! Drill holes in the right spots and it can be a good pinner outer. Usually when I use mine it is to hold something in place... and the final pressure is with a hammer applied to the top of the ram. Get someone with a metal lathe to drill a 3/8th's hole in one end so you can use assorted tool you file from drill rod. A drilled and tapped hole in one side of the ram can hold the tool in place.

I'm tellin' what I wish I had done. Had a holed ram like that at work. Still have an unmodified 1ton. Been a continuing mess since '14. A few small bandsaws. A few Dremel drill presses, a few Dremel hand grinders. 1940's to present. A few light hammers, A big mess on the tables.
Still use a lot of the Cheap Tools:

My workhorse is a home made reversible buffer sander mounted to a drill press. About ten speeds available withbelt change of the press and the drive belt double pulley on the gadget.:

Pull a pin in the PVC pipe fittings and swing the shaft through 180degrees. Twisted drive belt give change of direction, top of buff forward or top of buff backward.

Consider about 1 square foot of working area within the stuff on three benches for my careful work. Seriously!!!

Yes Richard I'm going to have a hole drilled in the end of the ram & retention screw added. There is a guy at the archery club who has a small machine shop.

Get some same size drill rod and have him taper a few pieces to a point and one or two to a half inch long 1/16th inch pin. That gives you a pinner-outer. and the others you can modify as you need the in a drill press and with a file.

The slop of the ram travel is taken out by judicious tightening of the four bolts on the front of the unit. They can be made to "no slop!" accuracy with a bit of care.
    Have fun~

PS assure the inserts fit the hole, sometimes silver steel/tool steel is a few thou oversize to allow grinding to spec after hardening.
