Thanked: 1587I had a bad experience with spirits in my younger days so I steer well clear of whiskeys and rums etc. now. I like a good port and most often drink reds. Rioja is one of my favourites.

Thanked: 1587Yes. Me and my best mate, young and naive in our first year at Uni, two 750ml bottles of Johnny Walker Red Label (I know we made it well into the second bottle, but can't remember by how much). Hilarity ensued for the first few hours. Spent the rest of the night alternately passed out or hugging the toilet (or both simultaneously) after that. The next day was hell on earth. I actually think I had a mild case of alcohol poisoning, but perhaps not.
Anyway, I haven't been able to smell scotch or whiskey since without wanting to technicolour yawn (and it was 18 years ago)...
Nowadays I just stick to a nice red.

Shiraz Viognier (for the uninitiated - it's a really good red wine) from Yering Station, Yarra Valley, Australia.
I went there when I visited Australia last year and the place, the wines, the weather, were all just superb.

I love good English ale. Its a bit of a rarity whilst I am in Poland. Mead is nice in small quantities but I wouldn't want it every day.
Talking of non alcoholic biproducts of yeast, and also being English I have to say that I love marmite. Sorry to all you haters out there.
