That's not what the laws that govern our society say.
But that's not a big problem. Much more troubling are the letters of support that prominent republicans sent to the judge in defense of Dennis Hastert after his transgressions had become public. To quote Tom DeLay:
You see, when republicans stray they are good people and should be forgiven after all that's the Christian way no matter the transgressions but when democrats do the same they go right to jail and should be hounded the rest of their lives.

I don't think this has to do with democrats or republicans - putting hypocrisy aside there are good people and not so good people on either side.
I see it as evidence that this transgender bathrooms issue is being artificially blown up for primarily political reasons. If there was a genuine concern about protecting children from predators those very vocal people would have been spearheading efforts to address failures that have been proven time and time again, not fighting imaginary ones that the scientific evidence is strongly against.

I am certain that many people sincerely believe this will be an issue, but I am skeptical about their understanding and interest in solving actual problems.

It's the same movie over and over again - as another example all the big mouths mysteriously shut up about the ebola epidemic as soon as the 2014 election was over. Good thing that there were enough people who genuinely cared and kept working until it was under control - before and after it was politicized and even when they were depicted as careless, incompetent, and even malevolent by those who actually possessed those characteristics.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Interesting take on Hilary's Campaign from a senior reporter here in Toronto, also a possibly a different perspective on Hilary and Bernie's campaign, interesting read from Canada's, The National Post - FYI:

Nah, this is just the regular punditry that's supposed to be insightful but is extremely superficial.
The thing about the democratic campaign is that it has been very steady and uneventful all along. If you take into account the demographic differences of the states (you'd think that a pundit would know states are very different) Sanders has underperformed in virtually every contest so far.
He tied in Iowa when he should've won by 20 points. He won NH by 22 points when he should've won by 32 and so on.

He's been just strong enough to prevent Clinton to reach the point of inevitability (turns out political scientists have been able to quantify this with an amazing predictive power), but that may ultimately be playing in her favor by creating the perception that she 'earned' the nomination in a strong contest rather than it just being given to her.

He has had negligible chances for quite some time. I think right now to get the nomination he has to win something like 70% of the remaining votes, in other words the remaining states must look like Vermont.

Back, for a moment, to the restroom issue, et. al. Isn't the objection that has been expressed, to these cultural changes, related to long standing mores and traditions stemming, in large part, from religious teachings as well as cultural conventions?

If so, consider this well known excerpt from The Communist Manifesto, chapter II: "But Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.”

Brings to mind the analogy of "boiling the frog," done incrementally and slowly so he won't know he's cooked, until it's too late.

I am not sure what the communist manifesto has to do with any of this, but as far as objections based on religious and cultural conventions isn't that the whole point of the US Constitution.

USA was not set up as a theocracy, or frozen in the cultural norms of 18th century - it has a system of government that is flexible to respond to the changing norms of the society but also with good amount of inertia to provide stability.

No, just no. We should not all have to pay for elective cosmetic surgery in an attempt to correct what is, in most instances, a mental health issue.

To paraphrase another form of 'dumbing down' that works.
