Thanked: 4207I thought about doing that Jerry, but in the end, I don’t trust the keypad Mylar anymore either. Peeled it all back to troubleshoot and think it’ll likely get curled and let water in again if I were to try and stick it all back down.
New keypad will make the heater look all new again too.
Happy to report the heater gained 2’ an hr and the pool is now at a lovely 83’ so yes, it’s working at great efficiency once more.

Drill press into a vertical lathe.
This is a chunk of 2X4 I trimmed down on the table saw. I made it a little closer to round. OK, 8 sided.
Chucked it up and used a cheap chisel to work it.
The second pic is after a few minutes of sanding and a little wax just to see the grain better.
The third pic is what I used to do it.
The base on my press doesn't have holes arranged so I can get my rest any closer. I might have to make a wooded base I can bolt down so I can get the Tool rest closer to my work.
I think with a couple of real wood cutting tools I might be able to hack out a brush handle. Maybe.
Next week I will buy a piece of wood and see it I can keep from ruining it. LOL.It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4207Clever set up Jerry. With some sharp tools and a tight rest you will definitely turn out a handle with that..

Thanks, Mike. And Roy, that's a nice link. But I'm getting away with less effort than that guy. Anyway, I will work on a better option for a rest and order a tool or two. I saw a set at H.F. but I'm afraid of what kind of junk I might be buying. I don't want to spend a lot on the cutting tools but I don't want to buy junk either. Maybe you have an option for me Mike?

Another project today...
24" X 2.5" Bridle/Latigo strops.
Picked up the leather at Springfield Leather and talked someone out of some of his stock for the linen/cotton secondaries. A little bit of hardware and thin leather I had laying around. A trip to Ace Hardware for some D rings and clips and WALLA. Three Strops that I don't really need. LOL. Now I also made three more a couple of weeks ago out of some plain vanilla leather so its time to make some more strop covers.
Why I do this to myself I will never know. It's just Sharpening, right?

My wife keeps telling me to tag everything and value it, so she will get all she can when she or my sons liquidate my collection.
I tell her to look up sold items on eBay.
