Thanked: 4829Nice work Freddie. I work in the marine industry and those kydex sheaths have had my attention for a while.

So I am long-used to going down the road and giving business to a locksmith which has been around since the 50's.
Took them a lock kit from the Ford dealer and asked them to make it right with the key. Van is a 94.
They said cannot do because it is a 10 station key and the lock kit I have is an 8 Station one. (Rezdog is shaking his head!)
So. Seems the lock scam is obvious. Different part numbers and prices for the same thing, idiots who cannot reason, etc.
Seems Ford went to 8 stations in 2000? Dealer cannot come up with the 10 station one......
After 2 tries with the dealer and the locksmith, Tom sat down with his lord dork visor and some needle-noses and just did the deed.
Using 8 of the 10 cuts? WTF?
Leftover tings.....

Thanked: 4829Yup, lots of extra wafers in those kits. Ford is funny with their lock stuff. I do very little automotive stuff but enough to know ford did some wacky stuff. There is a few years that all of their stuff was top secret and is dealer only. Most locksmiths that do much automotive usually have quite good books and supplies or access to almost everything. Some shops in the larger areas do exclusively auto stuff. Not much call for it around here. Tons of folks leave their keys in their ignition. Where are you going to go?

Yeah.. 'Bubba run off with your truck!'. Everyone knows!
I can remember back in the 70's that if you had a Ford, Just go try your key.
You may just start someone else's car! I have seen a Ford key start an AMC!
Lots of the old ones even develop a wear issue where no key is needed at all!Last edited by sharptonn; 09-29-2018 at 03:33 AM.

The truth, Richard! Chick key chains are killers! Cannot wait for issues with the newer push-button ones!
Big fun!

Thanked: 4829My old Chevy pickup you could use almost any chev/gm key to unlock the doors and turn the ignition.
