Please forgive me for getting off topic here.

I've been the pall bearer for 3 of my 4 grandparents, the only reason that it wasn't for all 4 was because my dad's father passed from natural causes 4 months before I was born. I was to be his first grandson/that was in April of1953.

Many a year later my dad was sitting in his chair reading the paper and having a beer while my mother was puttering with dusting etc and dad said; ""Well I did it"! Mom asked "What did you do Tod"? He said; "I lived a day longer than my dad".

That's my goal, to live at least a day longer than my dad did and I hope my kids set the same goal. Wish me luck as I've got to make it to February the 4th 2022

A side note; My dad's father and all of his brothers and sisters died in the month of April/different years of course but------

Hirlau I thought about you today also,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Your leather work is excellent.

Archery leagues have started here and as I was using my homemade stringer with a leather pouch on one end. I couldn't remember if I had posted it here.

I was the instigator of this off topic jaunt so I at least forgive you.

When I was born I had 4 Great Grandmothers. one of them died shortly thereafter. My mother said that she wanted to hold her first great grandchild......

The crib that my children slept in was given by their great grandmother who gave it a month before my first child was born.

How can I have smiles and tears at the same time?

Because of the memories. All those memories.

At Owen Agenbroad and his wife Jan's recent dual services as his youngest son spoke there was a slide show going and when something like Owen and Jan dressed up as Mr and Mrs Green Giant the entire group couldn't help but laugh. His son would turn to see what was so funny but by then it was gone so he didn't get to enjoy the laughter.

On another note. For years and years my father had said that 'IF' he 'HAD' to die and he had any say about it he would die at home in his bed and he did. The significance is that was the same bed he'd been born on. And his father had died on. The bedroom set and a mantel clock had been a wedding present from my great grandfather Davis. The bedroom set resides at my younger brothers home.

That's the kind of couch I need. Stupid cats keep tearing up all our upholstery. I let them get away with it in exchange for leaving my strops alone.

I thought about posting this in the Gallery under Custom Builts and Restores however when it comes to what some would call 'Restoration' of a razor I call 'Cleaning Up'. I also lack the 'touch' for making the beautiful scales that I see posted day in and day out so I make scales for myself (well I did make a couple of semi-matching scales for a friend a few months ago) but that's the only time.

Anyway here's the FleaBay picture on a razor I took a chance on.

The razor arrived looking Much Nicer! Here's a pic that I'd posted about what had come in the mail.

There was a strange 'thing' at the toe. Turned out to be something like a drop of glue as it scrapped right off. What was really strange was that it was on both sides of the blade.
