Waxed nylon,,, mark the holes, then drill them with a 1/16 bit,,,, then hand sew.

Okay, got to work on my pancake holster a little today. I have attached pictures. Shows the patterns being traced to the leather, the cut leather blanks, and the leather being fitted to the holster. Next step is to glue the blanks to the holster and let set up for a day. Then we'll sew the blanks the the holster using 1/8" drill bit to make the holes and waxed twill thread. The final step will be to dye the leather black to match the holster. Will send more pictures as we progress.Name: IMG_0254.jpg

One more post this evening. Here's the holster with the blanks glued on and the holes drilled. Will sew this up tomorrow and make it look good. It looks kind of ugly right now. I'm thinking of leaving it the natural color and have a two tone holster. Depends how it looks after I sew it. Black dye will hide my mistakes. We'll see.

Another project in the completed column. Stitched up the holster but did not dye it black. Instead, I put neatsfoot oil finish on the leather and I think I'll leave it this way. Anyway, here are 3 pictures that show the front, back, and front view with weapon inside the holster. These types of projects are therapeutic. Enjoy!

    Great looking project.

What did you do different from the front to the back that the stitching looks better on the front.

Except for knots etc. I would think that they would turn out equal...

Darn it. I was hoping to see a holster for pancakes and ideally, syrup as well. Apparently that dream remains unfulfilled.

The only thing that I can think of is the front is smooth side up, I moistened the drilled holes and smoothly with an awl reamed the the front holes. On the back the leather is rough side up is what it is. That's the only difference.
