    I still enjoy getting out my old slides from the 60's and 70's and viewing them on my Carousel. I have thousands of slides from Viet Nam, Japan, Hong Kong, and Thailand from that era. Although I have a scanner, I haven't scanned them as I doubt there would be any interest in them once I'm gone. There just isn't anything like setting up the projector and screen and seeing photos at that size. A computer screen just doesn't compare. Slides were also very social, as a family or group of people could sit in a room and comment on what they were viewing. Thanks for the link, Roy. It's nice to know that I can keep my old Carousel going.

    There would more interest in your photos, than you can imagine now. You captured a moment in history that will never be repeated. Think of the photographs that you have had the pleasure of seeing in your lifetime, taken by someone else.

    You talk about the experience of viewing the Carousel with family members sitting in a room; imagine what that experience will be like in the future having a moment you captured on film viewed by others 50+ years from now. Digital viewing of images will only advance in the methods we will use. Imagine one of your images coming to life in a hologram .

    My point to you & Roy,,, don't let a moment that was important to both of you just fade away.

    John I concur but as I said not all of the pictures are worth keeping so I need to sort through them.

    I have some copies of pictures of harvest pictures back in the horse drawn age and a one with a steam tractor running the thrasher with a huge leather belt. I even have a picture of 3 generations of 'Judkins'. Sadly they are all gone now, but I remember them all.

    Evenpar; about looking at your pics on the computer. While price-wise it may be out of the average Joe they apparently do have projection screens for showing digital. I recently lost my former brother in law from cancer and my daughter scanned pictures and made a 'slide show' that was shown at his funeral. When the time came a screen about 8' square lowered from the ceiling and the slide show started.

    USPS says that the lamps are here in WW so I should have them about noon tomorrow so I can get back to work viewing.

    Here's a couple that I've had digitized: My Grandparents Roy and Winifred Clark's wedding picture and then when they were both working but about 5 years from retirement;

    I agree with Hirlau on this. Heck, these days you could put Every picture On your Phone, plug into a Big Screen on and on.... The possibilities are pretty much endless.

    My son laments the fact that nobody prints photos any more, they are just left on a computer somewhere never to be seen again (most likely). There is a drawback to taking unlimited images most of which one takes just because it's easy and there is almost unlimited space.

    Make sure it has the software ability to recognize multiple photos on the scanner glass & list them as individuals.

    That's just it,,, you don't leave them on a computer forever.

    John, you seem to have forgotten that I'm a Mastodon with this computer crap! I'd be lucky to just scan one at a time and be able to save it like it should be!
