Very cool! After looking at the pics of yours lit, Roy, I decided a shade is a must.
You can spend what you want to, for certain.

Since I will use it for decorum until the lights go out (with occasional 'lampings'), I decided to go for a white ball-shade and a ring to go on the burner to hold it.
A full-blown lamp will crowd the room, I think. Found them on Ebay reasonably.

It was difficult to not buy this and that and build a lamp. I need another!

I actually did build this lamp. I found a Model B burner for $45 delivered but paid through the nose for this green Cathedral font ($90 delivered). I also picked up a set of OEM Nickle arms to hold a glass shade for it.

As I've said, I'm done buying as I have enough to provide some pleasant light during a power outage and there are now enough lamps for each of my children to have once I'm gone. I'm NOT buying enough lamps for the grandkids!!!

With that said, my son (who is an avid reader) and his girl friend were here the other night to check the two lamps out after dark and they both were impressed. My son grabbed a book to see how reading with the one with a shade would be and he was smiling ear to ear. Guess I'll have to make sure I leave him a lamp with a shade.

Just a note Tom and anyone interested in these lamps. Make sure you buy a shade that is designed for Aladdin. They are made of special glass designed for the high heat these things give off. Same goes for the chimneys. Don't put any ordinary lamp chimney on these as it can shatter from heat. Use only Aladdin chimneys and shades on your Aladdin.

Used to live in an area prone to black outs. But these days, rarely a need to light them. Hence the patina.

The temps here really jumped up today. Hit at least 80 and when that happens around here we usually get Thunder Boomers. The winds have kicked up and it's looking like we'll be getting a storm.

Maybe I'll 'get' to use the Aladdins tonight

The Thunder Just Started and it ain't my Harley!! The winds really kicked up also!

Well Roy, I woke up last night close to midnight to take a whiz and the power was out. I said, "Screw it", and went back to bed. This morning at 4 am I got up, lit three Aladdins so I could see to call the power company on my ROTARY phone while I made coffee on my GAS stove. Before the lineman got here my house was toasty warm. When he was through fixing the blown fuse on their side of the line, I invited him inside for a cup of coffee. My Aladdins were still running at full throttle and he was amazed at the heat and light they give. I think I made another convert to early 20th century technology.

Man, it can be addicting. I was looking around for wicks, shades, mantles, etc and began to think about combining this and that.
If you buy a lamp whole and running it will cost you a lot. You can build one for 1/4 the price with parts here and there.
Like razors.....I had to quit looking.
I have gotten a grip on myself and will be happy with my one heirloom lamp.
