30 + years ago my brother worked with a guy who was a huge SnapOn fan. However my brother said that SnapOn wouldn't replace the guy's sockets that were worn out. So this guy would weld a nut to a bolt, put them in a vice, crank on them with a worn out socket on a breaker bar and a length of pipe and have my brother hit the socket with a hammer. That would cause the socket to spit and THEN SnapON would replace it.
I have some SnapOn tools but none are worn out and I don't know if they now replace worn out sockets etc or not.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

I have had a dealer put a tool in a vise on the truck and smack it!
Whatever it takes!

Same here Tom. He said it had to be broken. I screwdriver got a chip in the blade. I thought the chip was enough, but he put it in the vice and snapped the tip off. I told him that the only way that would happen was to be prying with it and its not a pry bar. He said it was fine and gave me a new one.
Also had a Deadblow hammer that the plastic/rubber casing was cracked. He said to break the casing so i took another hammer to it. Brought him the hammer with only a steal shaft as a handle. Got a new one. It's just Sharpening, right?

And people wonder why some company's tools cost so much.

Thanked: 4207I’ve been using snap on tools since 96 on important jobs.
Their 1/4” breaker bar, yes 1/4” drive breaker bar, has proven unbreakable.
Can’t speak to current quality of construction but the stuff built last century was built well."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Ive got one of those too Mike. It worries me every time i use it, but it hasn't broke sense i bought it in the late 80's. Now, i dont use it much any more but it does come in handy. Mostly used if i want to snap off a frozen nut. The bolt normally snaps of before the breaker bar gives up.

Back when I was a 10 going on 11 year old kid two brothers wanted me to join them mowing lawns. We had an older Montgomery Wards 19" push mower which was similar to what my friends had. But before I could answer I had to ask my dad as it was 'his' mower.
I asked if I could use it to mow lawns with my friends and he said he'd think on it. Seemed like freaking forever before he made his decision. Here's his answer; I could use the mower on these conditions:
1. I payed for the Gas
Fair
2. I kept the oil at the proper level and I paid for the oil and changed the oil once a month.
Fair
3. Just like at home/I would clean the undercarriage at the end of the mowing day.
Fair
4. After paying for the gas and oil I gave him 100% of the funds left over.
HmmmThat didn't sound like a very fair deal to me.
Then he added: If you'll agree to those conditions, I'll take the money you earn this summer and pay the difference to buy a 21" Self Propelled TORO.
Well----Ok.
True to his word at the end of the summer he bought the TORO and I could use it the next summer mowing with my friends.
Besides being self propelled the TORO had a Female Fitting that the end of a garden hose could be put in and then use the mower to clean the undercarriage. Damn that was nice. It worked great and at the end of the mowing day I gladly used that feature.
This new mower didn't have anything like that but a friend of mine had a TORO that had a Male Fitting that you plugged the hose onto so I went looking and bought this kit/$10:
While the kit covered two different systems I used the ones in the Red Box as the nipple is steel not plastic like the other system.
The Black arrow points to were there's a shoulder/one on each side.
I used a 5/8" step drill bit to drill the hole. This barely allowed the threads to pass and I was using files to get the profile right. I was so close but I didn't want to file too much so I put the nipple in and used my 1/2" impact wrench to suck it through. I then backed the nut off, applied lots of Blue Loctite and the lock washer and tightened it up with the impact but stopped and finished up with a socket wrench.
It looks like it came from the factory
Now I'm ready for mowing my little lawn. Oh well it's only once a week/it's a small lawn and my son mows for me when I'm out on long rides on my HarleyOur house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

My mower came with a thing like that. It didnt work worth a damn. I just tilt it up on each side and blast it with the hose. Works much better. If it was a better design? Maybe one on each side, it would have been better. Oh well.
Nice mower Roy. I really like mine too. One pull and off she goes. It's just Sharpening, right?

Back in the day I found that you needed to lower the mower as far as it would go to get the water to do it's work. I recently found a video from TORO showing the same thing:
