    Not really speculating, Roy.
I have read-up, watched videos, and listened to you old guys (and Paul) enough to be a pro, even before I fire it up!
    Thanks!
That is like my wick-trimmer which came rattling in the reservoir.
    Interesting stuff. Seems pretty straightforward.
Nice to be over-prepared to do something people did everyday back when!

As you said "Nice to be over-prepared to do something people did everyday back when".

How many people that you know that are 40 years old or younger can you put in a 1940 Chevy pickup and have them know how to double clutch the non-syncro transmission?

    I always like those 6 P's!

TBH, Roy the same might be said for standard transmissions period.

Likely nobody under 50, and even then, few could drive a three on the tree, either.
Kids look at that in amazement.. They cannot comprehend.

Proud to say that all three of my kids learned to drive with a standard transmission/in fact the same rig a 1985 Toyota Pickup with the 2LT Turbo Charged Diesel engine.

As for the three on the tree---Loved 'Em!

My dad had 3 on the tree as they called it. My mom had an old audio standard trans. I learned on moms, then the ol' man explained his. Wasnt too big a deal but i hated it. Now days after driving 18 speeds, i kinda like my automatic trans truck. I earned my wings. Now it time to take it easy. Im paid by the hour anyway. Ha.

Jerry, you may remeber the 5&4 dual transmission trucks. They were always a challenge, and make the three in a tree seem like child’s play.

Yep. I drove a couple. Stick your arm thru the stearing wheel and shift with both hands. Also drove an old truck with an air starter. Go to the shop. Fill a portable air tank and put air in truck. Back to shop and do it again. Get in truck and pull out the compression reliese. Spin engine. Cough cough. Then go get more air. Normally started on the forth portable tank of air. PITA! But it was cool old school.

Another short story. I learned to drive truck the old way. School of hard knocks on my head. I was 16 and the ol' man took me out back and said " boy, see that truck? Go get in it". I got in the truck and he walked over, opened the door and said "no dumb-ass, the other side". So began my schooling in truck driving. I made a mistake, and he put a knot on my head. Hard knocks school! Guess he knew i wasnt going to be a Doctor. Ha.

That's why I'm getting a half barrel (30 gallons) of kerosene before winter. I used about 15 gallons last winter without major power outages. I prefer the light of an Aladdin to these modern LED and florescent bulbs plus the heat is a nice side benefit.

Yes, looking at that video, some serious heat coming-up. I was thinking a reversed ceiling fan would help one heat a room.
