Boy howdy have things changed since I last installed a stereo!
It 'USED' to be so Simple!
Oh well, after reading the destructions both in hand and online time and time again (I found both lacking and confusing) the new unit is installed and operating quite nicely.I also replaced the speakers that had needed replaced for years. I replaced all four speakers, however it got way too hot the day I started the job so it was done in two installments. The same with installing the new unit. ;

Now to figure out how to get all the fancy crap to work AND REMEMBER how to make it work. :bangheqad:Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 4828Well when my stereo crapped out I just got a new truck, of course the stereo was the least of the issues. You get them to 350 to 400,000 km and they just turn into money pits.
Very brave of you to take on that Task Roy, and it’s sweet that everything works. Nothing worse than showing up at the install shop shuddering and stammering.It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I found it frustrating as there is a bit of 'Universal' to not only the mounting bracket but the wiring harness/for example I needed to remove all of the tabs except the ones in RED--
Also the plugins used different sizes of wire with one being about 18 gauge and the other about 20 gauge. While the destructions warned that not all wires might not be used the two that were left over were labeled for Illumination and Dimming.
However as in Johnny Cash's song when he says that 'The taillights were another sight as there were two on the left and one on the right but when we pulled out the switch all three came on" when I powered the new unit up it did have power to the displays.
What I would consider a Major Fail on behalf of those who wrote the destuctions is that they failed to point out the the Solid Black Wire is the ground and it needed to have a male connector attached so it would plug in to the old system/plus the connector wasn't provided. I happened to have the right connector.
So far I can't get the buttons to work to set the clock but I do have stations set.
Now! Can anyone tell me the logic behind having a Remote for this damn thing?? Are you going to give it to whoever is in the back so they can change stations??
The one feature that I'm looking forward to trying is that it has a USB port so I can download a crap pot of music to a thumb drive for a road trip.Last edited by cudarunner; 08-16-2018 at 11:06 PM.

Thanked: 557They use these units in travel trailers. I guess that’s why they include a remote.
Yours looks similar to the one I have in my Jayco trailer and I really enjoy playing my own music using the thumb drive.David

Roy, I think that it depends on two things.
The way the actual stereo system works.
The way you have the music loaded on the thumb drive ie. Individual songs ot whole C.D.'s/albums.
I have 300+ C.D.'s loaded on a 32 gig micro SD card.
I can scroll through an list in alphabetical order of the C.D.'s
When I pick a particular one to listen to I can scroll through the song list and pick out what I want or play all.
The system also puts a nice picture of the album cover onto the screen on the dashboard.
I'm sure yours probably works a little differently...they all take some figuring out as I have found out traveling with family in different vehicles.
Should be no trouble with a little practice....Piece of cake!

Thanks Pete,
Yea this has the SD card thing but I'd have to pull it back out as the slot is on the backside/besides I'm sure that I can load plenty of tunes using the thumb drive as I don't travel far in the rig/it's ready to turn over 200,000 miles but it's still a good rig and reliable.
It's funny as I had to use the frigging remote to set the clock as the unit's button just wouldn't do it/but it does all the other things it's supposed to. :banghead;
I've tried a couple of CD's and I'm very happy with the sound. I even figured out how to adjust the volume front to back and right to left.
I have no way of figuring out how many tracks/albums I have but the content is quite varied/anything from the tunes from Disney's 'Fantasia' to Black Sabbath to Original Hank Williams etc.
A member who hasn't been active for awhile once told me that if you started playing his digital tunes 24/7 you could listen continuously for over 4 months. And he had hundreds of albums, 45's cassettes etc to digitalis.
Pete, I bought that Asian bowl and I love it for making lather/looks like the old Gillette Canned Stuff/Big and Fluffy and gives a great shave-- thank you;:
Shaun, now I too can listen to 'Rog' when I'm in my rig!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
