Locally cut red oak, seats 8 comfortably. We bought our house in June, 2010. I started working on the table a few hours a week that autumn & finished it just in time for us to have our first Christmas dinner in our new home on it. We lived in an apartment before that, it was our first and hopefully only house. The clear coat was still tacky when we carried it from the garage into the dining room Christmas morning.

That's funny! We just threw the chairs in there for the picture, I didn't have time to space them out correctly. Heck, I didn't have time for anything, with the family coming over and us cooking everything.
You can't see it in the photo but there are tiny bubbles in the finish all over the table. It was only 35 degrees the night before but I needed something on it so a spill wouldn't stain the wood. After it warmed up a few months later I sanded the table down & redid it.
