    My dad had a friend who raised cattle, wheat, had forest land (his home place was several thousand acres) and when the FFA kids would show their animals at our local fair Ben and his wife would purchase several of them. Here again the kids almost always got more than they would have at a regular sale.

    When the local paper would publish who had purchased. You would see;

    Ben and *** so and so
    The Bar **Ranch
    The Thick and Thin Lumber Company

    Just Ben's way of 'spreading the wealth'. Miss him as he was a damn good man!

    Anyone could open it.

    In the days before refrigeration, keeping stuff out in the climate was best, I guess.
    The holes ensured air circulation and kept the flies out. The artwork in the tin was bonus, as were most things back then.

    Wish I had it now!

    You did a sturdy and faithful reproduction, Cincinnatus. To be proud of and for a good cause.

    I bet!

    My landlord builds rocking chairs, etc for the local FFA auctions and is a huge benefactor.
    Get's top-dollar for the kids. Hopefully, we may see more of what used to be commonplace in our people soon!
    People have to be making money in order to donate to our kids. I am happy some still can!

    I made these faces out of mortar a couple of days ago. I'm working at a high building, 5 floors and my plan is to glue the faces to the building up high. Not a obvious place but nor a secret place. Someday people will find them and wonder. I like that idea.

    No damage at all. Has endured a few mild local quakes already, within 50 miles. Strict building code, but the latest was a beauty, we are about 400 miles from the centre and really felt it.
