have cut my own for years. Use a clipper with the #3 attachment all over. Used to have my wife do my neck but it always scared me. I figured out how to do it myself by putting my hand at the base of my skull and shaving up to my hand. Seems to work well (not that i can see it but SWMBO hasn't complained).

    Looks good Paul BTW!

I am not cutting my own hair yet but having it short is started to grow on me.
During this past year my hair has only been cut 2x. This past June and now about one week ago. In June I went bald and this last time about 1/2".
I do have some pet clippers and a beard trimmer that has a bunch of attachments. I think I will give them a try.

I am very surprised that so many of you guys cut your own hair!

We have that exact conversation. She says, "I don't want a flat top."

I needed a haircut desperately last March once everything closed, got some hair clippers and since then my wife is the official barber in our house.

I stopped having my hair cut when I got out of the Army. I went just over 20 years without having a hair cut. Then the day came I figured it was time to grow-up so I went and had it cut like a real man's hair cut. 20 bucks? After a year or two, I found a real barber who would cut it in a manly short fashion and it cost 11 bucks. Now I've had this kind of hair cut for 11 years. Time to go back if I can since I still HAVE hair. Ha.

Bingo! When I retired, I bought a cordless Wahl clipper ("Peanut"), and it's now almost nine years that I DIY my hair. Like you, it's #3 all over, then one or two passes with #2 around the ears and sides, for that "high 'n tight" look. Oh! and the ear hair... ought to have 'em transplanted up-top.

A flat top is easy except the top. I use the # 1 up the side then the tapered guides to do the rim. No sweat until the roof. I have tried the flat top combs but they just seem to get in the way. No, the top is where you put.on your big boy pants and do it freehand down the center trying to keep a level stroke and aim for the crown of the head as the target. It definitely takes bravery and some practice but it's the only way I can do it. I have my wife shave my neck with a straight which she hates. All the rest I do myself.

Yep, It came to the point in my "male pattern baldness" that it was time to stop worrying about styling my hair and go the easy route. It's so easy now to just get up and go. no need to worry about the hair!

I've always told my wife that when I get a bald spot I am going Kojak and then just getting it polished in a bowling ball machine, I am getting thin so it may not be long.

My wife is fighting me all the way, she's in favour of a comb over or a rug but say's she's leaving if I shave my head.

Mmmn, shaved head or wife - that's a thinker!

I've been cutting my own for quite some time now.

A set of whal clippers with 1/2" or 3/8" guards.
    A pair of scissors.
And I use a safety straight, for cleaning up the back of my neck.
