Thanked: 3I've got a 9mm and 10mm, both Glocks, that I love going to the range with. For hunting, I usually turn to my Marlin Model 1936 30-30. However, my favorites were always my Browning 50 cal M-2 and 120mm main gun of the M1A1! Now THATS firepower
Can't play with them anymore since I left the military though

As far as safety equipment goes I think it is counter intuitive to believe the a safety will make a gun safe. It lulls people into a false sense of security! Bottom line, machines fail, people do not. If you are not proficient enough to handle a loaded weapon safely and confidently with a health respect for it’s lethality you have no business handling one in the first place!

Part of why I've always liked the 1911.. thumb safety- physically locks hammer/sear. Grip safety- physically locks trigger.
IMO it's one of the "safest" guns to carry... any safety other than those only ensures you actually pull the trigger to fire.. But a gun in proper working order should NEVER fire without a trigger pull (unless you're in CA where apparently they routinely drop guns on their muzzle from 10 ft).
And if you're uncomfortable with either thumb or grip safety, either can be overridden easily, but both work well, and don't *REALLY* add any complication once you're familiar with how they work.
The whole Glock tripple safety thing has always baffled me.

Well since some of you are posting photos, the first two are customs I built in the early 1960's they are SW 32 long that I bought at a police auction ,(just slightly better than no gun at all)
The 1911 is the first one I built up customized(I later built a lot of these as custom pistols, this one probably in 1972/73.youcouldnt buy the custom parts you notice on this one,we had to build those parts in my shop(we also did all the plating and blueing back then).this gun has a 3lb trigger pull.I carried it for a few years, just lucky I naver had to use it ,or Id still be under the jail with that triggerpull
