John, I haven't seen anybody list a .250 Savage as a .250-3000 in a long time. I have an old Savage model 20 bolt action chambered for it. My dad bought it back in the '40s for my mom to hunt with. Talk about a deadly deer rifle, the low recoil makes it easy to shoot, and bullet placement is even easier. The only problem with the old model 20 was that it had a Mauser action and you couldn't mount a scope because of the bolt clearance.
Fine, fine cartridge!

Thanked: 1WoW it's nice to see all of my forum brothers so enthusiastic about firearms. I'm here in New York City where we have very strict gun laws basically you either have to be a cop or criminal to carry a concealed weapon. fortunately I am a Police Lieutenant and am able to carry 24/7,, my off duty gun is a kahr k9, and I recently purchased a beretta .32 cal tomcat, although not a great defensive round it is a beautifully designed gun, and I just love the looks of the thing.

Never under estimate that gun, the design is excellent, and most instances where you'd be justified usung it are so close you can smell their breath. It'll more than do the job.
Besides it's a Beretta...
My preferred carry or home defense isn't a cannon, it's my 380.
loaded with hollow points of course.
Why brandish a cannon? I prefer to see my target for a follow up shot if needed, and my 44 will leave everybody blind from the flash.
Besides the Walther leaves everybody i know wondering if I'm packing, the question is often enough to quell a confrontation. I could easliy carry my .45 in winter time, but it's not good to change things. I always know where my 380 is, it doesn't get in the way, and it'll chamber anything.
if you're going to carry, you need to know your gun better than your wife, and it needs to be more reliable.
That Beretta wil not let you down.

Thanked: 4I've been into shooting and reloading for forty years now. I started out with big bore pistol, then branched out to various rifles. Most of my rifles are military. The FAL I built from a mint STG8 kit is (somewhat disgustingly) as accurate as my match grade Fulton Armory .308 Garand. The Swedish Mausers are some of the most accurate rifles for the money that I've seen used at the range. I'm going out today to do some initial close range (<250yds) sighting in of my latest plinker: a little single shot. The damned Picatinny rail came loose the last time, grrrr.
Wayne, only shooting one gun on this day

Fred, I purchased the .250 Savage for my son's 10th birthday (now 27). He uses a M700 mountain rifle in .280, but I have kept the little .250 just because it is such a great little combination with the Ruger Ultra Lite. I take it deer hunting at least once a year. In fact, my only 10 point was taken with that rifle.
Seems there may be some connection between razors and firearms. Perhaps some of us also have lots of hand and power tools??
