Thanked: 79I think my wife wants a Ruger 9mm.
She liked the look of the Glock but wasn't as accurate with it. You guys with the Walther .380's, how are they for point/shoot ability? They look like they'd point really well, but if they'll do the job, might take her to try one of those out.

There isn't a snowballs chance in hell that the current supreme court doesn't find in favor of the second amendment as a guarantee to the individual.

Thanked: 3Boy I hate these threads.
CHOICES!!!
Contrary to some American's thinking their northern neighbours own LOTS of guns. We just dont get to wave them around in public much.
If forced to choose I tend to go for guns that are versatile.
For instance the 45-70
I load for that gun more than any other.
I can load anything from shot to round ball to some wicked performing heavy bullets.
I can reach into one of my very crowded gun safes and know that if I pull out my 45-70 lever action guide gun I can hunt anything that breathes on the North American continent. Within 150 yards that is.
Having said that I find that my regular hunting rifle is a 350 Remington Mag. Most of my hunting is moose and elk with deer as targets of opportunity and if I find that I like the short quick carbine with scope.
I hunt in grizzly country so like to carry a calibre that can handle the hunting and the stopping if needed. Recoil can be brisk but nothing like a custom 416 Remington Mag I once owned. It was cut down for bush work with grizzlies. Good knockdown on both critter and shooter. Slow rate of fire because after every shot you had to run back to where you took the shot and pick up your hat.
I did own a 460 Weatherby for awhile. My dare gun. Had "Son of a Bitch" engraved on it as that is what everybody who shot it said. Stupid thing. Useless for anything except bragging rights and those dont cook up worth a darn.
For carry in a pistol I lean towards wheel guns for their versatility and ability to swallow just about any load. My favorite after many years became my Ruger SP 101 in 357 mag.
I have bigger pistols, faster pistols, smaller pistols but that one just fits me.
For work in the bush its either the good ol 45-70 or a 14 inch barreled 870 with slugs.
For fun any one of many many guns from derringer to 577 double rifle.
Or even a couple of black powder cannon.

Thanked: 2nyc is the worst!!! if u have a ccw from anywhere in ny state it's no good in nyc. Forget about trying to get a ccw for personal defense you either have to be a rich/connected person. Poor joe's like me have to learn how to run fast or walk around with eyes behind our head. I worry cause when I goto the range I have to worry not only about the damn criminals ( you have to carry the firearm to and fro the range locked and unloaded.) I have to worry about getting pulled over and getting interrogated by boys in blue. It's a rarity in NYC to possess a permit and my beloved mayor really tarnishes the image. Now they got a pissing contest between him and this gun guy that's selling firearms in bright colors... uugghhh.. I'm all for getting illegal guns off the streets. But someone please look out for me. It's like I have to win lotto or sumthin to get a ccw in nyc.
Is that tomcat on the authorized carry list ? I thought only kahr and glocks were on the list.

Don't forget your mayor is also under investigation by the BATF for interfering with ongoing investigations and involed in a slander suit for his actions against two gun shops in other states. What aw piece of work.
