Yep, there also seems to be a need to continually crap on other people's stuff/ideas in order to feel better about the self. Major insecurity and perhaps other issues are involved there. Reminds me of some kids I've known. What a shame for the community.

Thanked: 15Well I must apologise to all.
It was never my intention to stir up ill feeling against the B&B forum and it's members, but I was somewhat shocked by an individual mods comments.
To clarify, I believe that B&B and its members have much to offer, as has SRP.
Unfortunately, my experience just happened to coincide with this thread being at the top of 'The Conversation' board, and so I posted.
Perhaps we might be better deleting this thread than perpetuating its contents?
Sorry guys.

Let's live and let live, look to the future rather than the past. I would suggest closing this thread.

Thanked: 953I for one hope this thread isn't closed, simply because it serves a purpose of letting people know what is going on in some unusual but very sad incidents on B&B. I stumbled on this at a time when it first dawned on me that there were was something odd about the hack jobs being done on certain brands, and this thread helped me make sense of it, and I suspect that is the case for others.
When the thread has devolved into anatomical reasons for the hack jobs, ok not so helpful. But for the most part I think this thread has been above board and unfortunately, informational. To those unlike me that have been in this community for years, you may have known for years what is going on over there. But for us relative newbies this has helped make sense of things.
Just my thought. Love this site.

Thanked: 7I have difficulty with the whole idea of promoting straight razor shaving, I just don't think it's suitable for the vast majority of the population. I may be wrong about that but if I'm not, wouldn't it be irresponsible to encourage people to try straights indescriminately.
This site is a bit different in that anybody who gets this far has pretty much already demonstrated a more than casual interest, but many readers on B&B will have never thought about using a straight and I wonder if Joel isn't right (in this if nothing else) to avoid excessive promotion of them on that forum.
Not that I'm condoning (or necessarily condemning) Joel in any other regard.

Blackbeard, I own a Livi regrind (one of the few Lynn has offered in the BST forum) and she is my number one razor. You will be happy with the purchase, and I personally feel it is worth the asking price.

Thanked: 15Gentlemen,
Just a quick update on my thread over at B&B.
Joel has posted a public retraction of his original post stating that he had been rude and ungentlemanly.
The guy has even offered to hone my new razor for me.
Hopefully things are now going to improve and perhaps we can all live in harmony.
