Biden was stone cold and did not make any personal connection with the viewer. Palin lacked substance but totally connected with viewers. In a debate such as this, it's the ability to connect that is often what determines the winner. A marketing pundit referred to her brand as the "McDonalds" of politics. She's offensive to the gourmets (intellectuals) yet millions and millions of people eat at that restaurant every single day. I would have to give her the edge, despite a comparative lack of substance.

    Gentlemen,

Let's keep this on track - Palin vs. Biden and your thoughts - and not turn this into a religious debate where we already know that tensions run high and tempers can easily turn the conversation ugly.

    Thank you.

If anything, this debate only reinforces my belief that we should all write-in Chuck Norris this November. Quit trying to pick the lesser of two evils and vote for a real man.

Remember: Chuck Norris doesn't debate, he roundhouse kicks children and drinks their blood. I'd like to see another candidate with that kind of male-reproductive-organ fortitude.

    Now that is funny !!!
Because I just told the wife the other day, that's who I'm voting for, she agreed

    VOTE CHUCK!!!!! in 08

    an excerpt:

Did you miss all the troops coming home? No, the US doesn't like to do that, does it. Win a war, leave several tens of thousands of troops behind for whatever reasons, keep the peace, rebuilding, etc. Unfortunately, many troops leaving Iraq are being sent to Afghanistan. But don't forget those who have come back to the US. I don't know how many already have, but here's another press release you may have missed "The United States will withdraw 8,000 troops from Iraq by February and launch a "quiet surge" in Afghanistan, President George Bush said today."

Are you really? I guess you're unaware then of this CNN report: Report: Iraq intelligence 'dead wrong'?

Even in that broad interpretation of victory, we still have 4,000+ dead troops, casualties of a war based on falsehoods and totally unrelated to 9/11. The deeper irony is that Bush, Sr., Cheny, and Rumsfeld were buddies of Hussein prior to the first Gulf War. It seems that Bush, Jr went in to "finish what daddy had started" or else he was not strong enough to resist Cheney's pressure to go in.

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder

For Bush to establish a Presidential Commission condeming the Intelligence Community (which, as a former member, I feel has needed overhauling for years, regardless, when he was told prior to launching the attacks that there were no WMDs, is a nice way to cover his tracks. Al Queda hated Hussein as well, as he was "secular" (well, he would go to a Mosque for a photo op). Almost immediately after 9/11 we knew the Taliban in Afghanistan was involved...so we attacked Iraq....?

    USATODAY.com - U.N.: Iraq had no WMD after 1994

And regardless, for Palin to attribute any victory to McCain by saying "he knows how to win a war" simply becasue she says voted to support funding is ludicrous, unless she also says everyone who voted for the bills that funded the activities in Iraq also know how to win a war....and McCain didn't even vote for the bill that he accuses Obama of opposing...he was absent from the Senate. he just encouraged Bush to veto it....hardly the same thing.

FactCheck.org: The Truth on Troop Support?

I love Factcheck - it shows both side are so full of s#&t, it's a miracle they don't have plants growing on their heads - all that high-quality manure!

I still hold to my maxim: If you have just met a politician, check to see that you still have your wallet.

But that isn't sexy....it's hard to bring someone to tears or co-opt someone's emotional story in a discussion of finance....and yet it's probably affecting more people than any other issue.

We may not like what happened or how we got there, but the war is ending with victory on our side. And partly because McCain helped push and prod Bush into sending the surge. It wasn't just because of voting to support funding for activities in Iraq. It should be noted that Obama opposed the surge, because that is part of the contrast between the candidates on this particular point

Hardly consolation for a grieving mother/wife or the vets who come home to find they can't get treatment from the VA.

Both sides were complicit - either through action or inaction....and I do not see any possibility of accountability.

That's true wirebeard, I just wanted to try to help you clear up what Palin meant. I think it's important when the nation is at war for people to know if it's being won or not, and I'm glad Palin brought it up if it helps get people up to speed on what's going on
