Yeah, Peter Rabbit is pretty cool for a classic. The Velveteen Rabbit is also good, but maybe when Sprog's a bit older.

Agree with Stephen on the Alex Schaeffler and Julia Donaldson books. One of my favourites is the Snail and the Whale. Cool artwork, great story.

And the one my daughter loved the most was the Tiger who Came for Tea.

You're going to have great times reading to your children!

I own a copy of The Oxford Book of Children's Verse in America which I wish I had when I had kids: Oxford University Press: The Oxford Book of Children's Verse in America: Donald Hall

Then I really like Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak: Where the wild things are: story and ... - Google Books

"Where's My Cow?" by Terry Pratchett! LOL Seriously it was Nim's first book and I read it to her most nights when I was carrying her. We also read it to her alot when she was in the Neonatal unit, so she knows the story enough to giggle in places now.

Recently I have come across the "touchy-feely" books by Usborne. So far we have "Thats not my Bunny" and "Thats not my Penguin". I usually read to Nim when she is sat on my lap, though she can't turn the pages herself yet, she does pull faces at the pictures and textures.

I am soooooooo loving being a mom. Nim will be weaning in a few more weeks, lots of messy fun to look forward too, hehehehe.

Amazon.com: What to Expect the First Year: Arlene Eisenberg: Books

This is supposed to be a great book to help you out. There's also "What to Expect when you're Expecting" both of these are by the same author.

Start reading up on parenting stuff, parenting magazine, etc. You'll be better prepared when the little tyke gets here.
Think of all the cool stuff you can get for your kid & you get to play with it too.

+1,000 Read and soak in all you can. It's just that important. Ask the people you trust most, even your parents, what they would have done differently, and what they wouldn't change. Take advantage their knowledge and experience.

    Congratulations and good fortune.

We have those! Along with "That's not my Monkey" and"that's not my Monster!" Abigail turns the pages and sticks her little fingers in all the spots that the book describes.
