Its hard to bite your tongue.

and i dont want to sopund like im not for the freedom of speech, quite the exact opposite, im for total freedom of speech, which is the only way to speak honestly, especially in politics
no matter how ignorant or cruel it is.
i for one, dont want to see that here. not in this forum.
to have moderated or babysat political convo, is to have untruthful political convo, "express my beliefs but better watch my toes so as not to offend anyone"... thats ridiculous
*ive been banned before from forums for "lack of empathy" lol
point- theres so many funner things to talk about. go kill someone elses buzzLast edited by The0ctopus; 05-30-2009 at 07:29 PM.

I can understand that - I can. Maybe a sub forum or something which could be totally avoided?
I am very much pro-free-speech - even the very ugliest. Mostly because it's less dangerous than driving such elements underground. Expose it to the light. Like a lot of bacteria, it dies when the sunlight hits it.
As for the "but not here" part - that's kind of difficult. If you have an off topic area, the topics are bound to come up. Frankly, every forum to which I have ever "belonged" has had political conversations. In places like this we do have the benefit of having members from all over the world, and can gain a lot from their input (no matter the point of view).
In many ways it could be the perfect place for such conversations because we are all here for the original unifying purpose of straight razors and a love thereof, so we don't start out as adversaries and might be more willing to look at what Bob From That Great Thread has to say than we would from Just Another Loudmouthed____. That initial connection can serve as a good way to open conversations. I am on the verge of getting kind of mushy we-are-the-world now so I'll stop.

And to address a point which was edited in after previous replies, but before seeing it - (or something) - Both? At least "both" sides should be aired. Absolutely, yes. And all sides should be required to back up their arguments with rational, fact-based...erm...facts. That sentence kind of got away from me there.

Thanked: 1903Criminal law is not a competence of the EU, but each of its member states (cf. Law of the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
International law is something else entirely, cf. Criminal law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

We have no restrictions on political or religious topics, only on behavior.
If people want to discuss them, fine. As long as everybody behaves in a respectful manner, that shouldn't be a problem.
If you feel that the only way to get your point across is to hurt / insult people, then that would be a wrong way of having a dicsussion imo, and that is where we would step in.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
