Many of my friends who are extraordinarily intelligent nor myself would join the military because we refused to be commanded by anyone much less idiots who have never fought a war and yet are commanding this one.
That is often the situation and hence when the US has drafted soldiers, they have always picked young guys in their late teens because they were weak minded enough to be controlled.
The same situation holds true for enlisted men today. Our commanders in D.C orders them to go and get themselves killed and to only kill if fired upon first.
Agreed and thank God someone else said it.

I've passed up several organizations because they had dum dums in charge.
I walked off from the CBP after the oral interview because I saw no one I wanted to work with.

I had relatives all the way back to the French and Indian War.

I can help a person who is been hit but someone on the street...that's a personal decision...i made my choice, i have to live with the consequences...

but we are not talking about personal decision here...
we are talking about intervening with another COUNTRY (let say business) and saying they are doing it wrong...

what would you say if the government start going to the companies (not helped by the "crisis" loans) and saying that Joe will be the CEO now?

(this took a while to write for some reason)

Thanks for clarifying, I think I get what you're saying. This is why I tend to think the country should be, with the possible exception of self-defense, non-interventionist.

I treat my personal life the same way. The only way I would interfere with anyone else going down the street is if they messed with me first and I had to defend myself. otherwise, it just ain't my problem. imho, it's a shame our country doesn't behave the same way. (although I'd be out of work if that was the case )

but that's not the first government decision I've disagreed with, and it won't be the last.

I don't see the problem with blood for oil.

Wars have been fought over less tangible things, like God.

Someone tell me again how procuring oil is bad for the country?

You get a little cold fetching firewood in the winter too, but it really pays off when you burn the wood.

I love thing that use products from oil...like my 12 mpg on HW 76 camaro!

how would you feel if, let say, china or North Korea would try to "liberate" the people from Alaska? (and i think the alaskan natives would love it)
    they are just procuring oil...right?

if US want oil...say it so...dont use a lame excude like "liberation" and "democratization" of some country who dont want to be liberated or want a democracy!
    thats all
