I'm just curious if this confirms our president's messiah-hood or if that still requires a second coming (re-election)?

This is pretty ridiculous considering the very short time span used for the evaluation. I don't think his one day's work to get Olympic games to Chicago even came into play here. Or was that the frosting on the cake?

Putin had to be second runner-up.

it had to be his Beer Summit to ease tensions between the blatantly racist cop (who is the one actually helping the professor down the stairs, while our Dear Leader struts like a peac ock) and the Harvard Professor.

I don't think I have taken the Nobel Peace Prize seriously either since Jimmy Carter won...Al Gore is another reason to question the validity of the Nobel Prizes any more.

I am like so many of you guys, I can't see one thing positive that he has done for America and if bowing and kissing the ring of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia earns you the Nobel Peace Prize, I bet that there are a lot of Saudis that think he should have waited in line...that would have taken decades for Obama to win.

I have never been a believer in conspiracies, new world order etc... but this one makes me think - is this just another random act of politicians' idiocy, or is this a calculated step in the grand scheme of things. It is soo stupid that it almost looks like a well calculated puppet show to me, no?

Politician idiocy is the bedrock upon which the New World Order is founded!

Nobel peace prize has become a joke.

    Here's the reason

Quote Originally Posted by The Norwegian Nobel Committee

The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.

For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

Perhaps you can provide him the comprehensive list. Would you have Al Qaeda on it?

HAHA...I think it's ridiculous to award it to Obama. As stated, the things he has been doing have been for such a SHORT amount of time, and nothing really substantial. Making peace with the Arab world? All he's done is gone around telling everyone basically "Our(all of us in the USA) bad!"

He has basically said that we will NOT help Israel as well.

I also agree that the Nobel Peace Prize has become a joke. It's been years since they gave it to someone, or an organization that TRULY deserves it.

Gandhi was NEVER awarded the NPP! How's THAT for recognition?

I would in no way consider Obama to be anywhere NEAR the league that winners like Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, or even Doctors Without Borders (who are all NPP winners.)

It's a sad publicity stunt, and if I were Obama, I would have declined the Award. At the LEAST he should use the prize money towards paying off the national debt that he's put us on the hook for.

I'm sure it's just one more thing for the international community to use as a laughing point in regards to the United States.

IMHO acceptance of the prize is a huge mistake of his.
