How would I possibly PROVE that somebody or something did not exist????

What difference does it make if anyone now is worshiping those ancient Gods, at one time millions did, and millions died in their name, so why would they be less important than Jesus, by all account of the Christian proofs a God just needs to have people believe in them, and die in their name...Right???

And by the definition you just gave then Allah, Buddha, Vishnu, Baal and quite a few more do exist... Right???

It's easier to ask people to do things (even some irrational ones) if you promise to give them some real goodies later

A lot may have died, but probably not by choice.

Not by definition but it does carry some weight.

Oh I beg to differ there, those Gods were "War Gods" and many went happily to their deaths following them... The promises of rewards in the afterlife for a warrior were many and great... Hmmmm sorta sounds familiar....

There are indeed still today a large number of pirates. In Somalia alone it is estimated at ~1,000 armed men.

The increase in piracy along the Somali coast alone should have at least cooled things off to the temps of the 1950's. And this does not take into account the other various piracy hotspots of Souteast Asia, and the Carribean. Which also should have added substantively to the cooling, but it did not.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Jack Sparrow, peg-leg, eyepatch, funny hat style pirates that say things like "Arrrrr!" and "Avast ye!"
