Organizations with the specific intent to bring christianity to its ultimate demise..
...Specifically secular or athiest movements, organizations or groups. Can anyone point out such groups?
I bring this up as Me and X had a little friendly exchange in Seraphims "Christmas poll".
He said:
There are a few atheist movements to literally destroy Christianity though X.
three things I would like to see out of this thread:
1) A friendly and honest discussion on the intentional actions by some movements and groups (secular in nature and not religious)to bring to end the christian religion.
2)a list, if at all possible, of modern movements with the stated purpose of discrediting and/or bringing to an end the christian religion. These must be verifiable and not something that you heard from a friend of a friend.
3)Polite and friendly discourse between all participants.Last edited by JMS; 12-28-2009 at 06:49 AM.

I can't think of any modern movements that have a mission statement to destroy religion but Robespierre was involved with another religion, the cult of the Supreme Being or something similar so he doesn't rally count as an atheist.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Personally, I've never heard of such a group, nor have I felt the need to seek out membership in one. The whole idea seems odd: joining together on the basis of not believing in something. To make a somewhat asinine analogy, I doubt many Christians have ever considered forming a "Bigfoot is a lie" group.
One significant way the analogy fails: there aren't enormous, well-funded, well-organized groups of people who DO believe in Bigfoot trying to make the rest of us live our lives based on those beliefs.
Still not enough to make me seek out a non-believer group, though.

Thanked: 116Mark,
actually I think you are looking at the wrong end of the spectrum to find organizations bent on destroying Christianity. I would nominate many self-professed Christian organizations before even starting to look into Atheist organizations. Many are turning the Bible's teachings on their heads, using a message of love to promote hate.
As a starting point: Leviticus 19:18, Leviticus 19:34, Mark 12:28-34.
Now, how many self-professed Christian organizations live by those 2 simple commandments that are repeated all over their own Holy Book?

I would nominate the ACLU and the Democratic party of the United States as two. Now neither of these two organizations is going to state the destruction of another organization as their goal but their actions speak.

Honestly i have never heard about such atheist organisations.
Considering the huge amount of work they would have to do before they got their mission accomplished worldwide, i think such organisation would collapse into it's own impossibility.
No, Christian organisation (church) rules ok.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Not sure how anyone, or any organization, could actually bring about the demise of a belief system. Even the Soviets couldn't do it in a country that was officially atheist.
