But you as a fairly left leaning individual (at least you portray one on here) can instantaneously see this for the wacky fruitcake type thinking that it is... BUT !!! (not saying you here ok) Most lefties can't see the same wacky thinking when it spews forth form some Muslim clerics mouth, and jump to defend his 1st amendment right of free speech... From where I am standing it seems that the liberal left has embraced Islam and ostracized Christianity... Can you explain to me Why???

I mean after all it is Robertson's right to free speech here too...

Again I apologize for the but I don't have liberals to ask where I am from...
I can't speak for all left leaning people, but I can speak for myself. I think Pat Robertson does have the right say what he said and it is protected under the 1st amendment. The same thing applies to Rev Wright and would also apply to the Muslim clerics if they lived in the U.S. But you know what is also protected under the 1st amendment? My right to call ALL of them idiots.

What I can't understand is this, why did God punish all of the Haitians? Is there not a single Haitian who happens to be Christian? What about them? It seems that God is being quite unfair in punishing the Christian Haitians along with the non-Christians. Also, why punish the people of Haiti today for acts committed 200 hundred years ago? Does that not fall into the category of punishing the while people in American today for the sins of slavery?

Just because something bad happens to you does not mean it was God punishing you for some sin you committed. Just ask Job.

There is no Iowa primary, it is a caucus state.

Robertson is a Southern Baptist and was active as an ordained minister for many years, but holds to a Charismatic theology not traditionally common among Southern Baptists. Some of his education includes: Washington & Lee University where he majored in history, Marine Corps.Officer Candidates School where he finished his first Bachelor's degree, Yale University Law School with his Bachelor of Laws, and New York Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree. He is the founder of numerous organizations and corporations, including the American Center of Law and Justice (ACLJ), the Christian Broadcasting network (CBN), the Christian Coalition, Flying Hospital, International Family Entertainment Inc., Operation Blessing International Relief & Development Corp., and Regent University. I admit some of his views are "out there" to say the least but he has done many things to help those in need good times or bad. I have issues with anyone (including Robertson) who sensationalizes topics for any reason especially under the "Christian" banner and I know many others who feel exactly the same way. Idiot no. Off the wall Charismatic sensationalist yes. As I do not care to watch his program I guess I have less of an issue with him. I prefer finding my sources somewhere else that way I don't have to ask myself "now why did he have to go about it that way".
While I have no quarrel with you over the fact the man is credentialed, I still maintain he's an idiot. Anyone who subscribes to, and evidently believes in, an old folklore tale about slaves making a pact with the devil, resulting in their homeland being cursed in perpetuity is, at least in my humble opinion (ok, maybe I'm not so humble), an idiot. Not to mention the man's other idiotic statements about 9-11, suggesting Ariel Sharon's stroke was God's retribution, etc.

Anyone who says what this man has said, publicly and over the air waves, is an idiot in my book.

And I really, really like my book....

Right now the latest reports say there is very little water or food. Relief may be days away and some people may die of thirst and maybe hunger if help doesn't arrive soon. Not to mention the myriad of injured who aren't getting medical treatment .... it is stretched beyond the limit. An unimaginable tragedy is taking place. To hell with Pat Robertson.

With the tragedies of this scale, these people need all the help there is to give, regardless of their religion or deal with the devil.

The news report I heard said that an aircraft carrier and a detachment of marines is on the way but days away. There are two USA groups expert in digging people out of this kind of wreckage leaving today for Port Au Prince. Other countries are also sending relief but if I understand the situation correctly shelter will be a problem for all even when the first responders arrive.

What a curious direction this thread took. Excellent.

    A tragedy indeed.

Idiot /Idiotic is awfully mean spirited.

It must be nice to write ones own book but that just makes it a personal opinion and we all know what opinions are compared to. Kinda like his mentioning of the Haitian's being "cursed" one mans opinion, not an edict against Christians in general. Yes he has a following (smaller than you may wish to believe) but there are a lot of other wack jobs out there who have a following but I do not hear them asking for aid for these or any other people and this one will at least follow through with relief aid even though he calls them "cursed". Their own history states the call for revolution came at a vodou ceremony by a vodou priest. Do you have evidence to the contrary? As for his other statements they are also opinion. You or I do not have to agree with them but he still has the right to voice them.
