Thanked: 56Costabro, if you wouldn't do the same, I feel sorry for your wife and any children you may or may not have. Had I been able to tell that woman she almost killed a 5 year old and severely injured two adults she may have used her vehicle more responsibly. What if she hit us? Would that be different, I'm sure she will hit somebody one day, I hope it's not you and yours.
Just fyi we were outside the well lit doors of a Wal-Mart, on the striped crosswalk.

Whew! Long thread...
Okay, I guess I will comment on this "gun free America" concept that is being tossed around. I find it similar to the modest proposal. If it went as said and all law abiding citizens were now unarmed and all people caught with a firearm were harshly punished ... Well, I think it wouldn't stop the violence. Reduce? Probably. But Mexico has crazy strict gun laws and the cartel still have their AK's.

If we are looking to make Americans safer, perhaps there is another way. Raise age limits? Longer waiting periods between purchase and ownership? I just personally feel that those who wish to do harm will find a means, whether or not guns are legally allowed.

I hate to say it, but Wal-Mart is the most dangerous place on the planet.... I refuse to shop there because the parking lots are so freaking unbelievable.
It's amazing, Wal-Mart is filthy: litter and diapers all over the lot, people parking all over the no parking areas, cars passing cars on the aisles, muggings, thefts, and burglaries.
Cross the 4 lane street to Target, and it's clean and safe.
The 3S rule for situational awareness says to avoid Stupid Places (bad parts of town, dark alleys, etc), Stupid People (rowdy people, gang members, etc), and Stupid Things (getting wasted at the bar, texting/talking on the phone as you walk in a parking lot, etc)
Wal-Mart fits 3 out of 3.
I'm in Condition Yellow at Target; at Wal-mart I'm in Condition Orange bordering on Red...

Thanked: 58I retracted the statement after considering the fact that it is just as cowardly to challenge a man's character without leaving him the ability of proving otherwise outside of anonimous chat.
My original comment was for the hypothetical situation you presented and therefore was hypothetical in it's direction. Yes, sir. I consider it cowardly to bang on a woman's car and threaten her. Yes, I've yelled at other drivers, women included. But never, would I approach a women's vehicle and present such an imposing posture as to surely cause her fear of personal harm. I'm willing to bet you wouldn't have done that if a man were driving. Then again, I inferred that your arguement was that if it'd happened in the UK, you might. And, in that case, you probably wouldn't have had a problem......see the previous comments on 'sheeple'.
In the state of Oklahoma, you might have been shot...hypothetically. I know this is the point you were making. Here is mine.
Had that been my wife and some nut approached her screaming and banging on the car (no matter what she did), I'd have advocated her defending herself with a firearm any day of the week. And if that same nut had bled out in Wal-mart's parking lot, so be it.Last edited by Costabro; 12-20-2012 at 07:39 PM.

Arm everyone just like in Switzerland. Every household with an able bodied male has a machine gun assigned to that male. Probably the safest place in the world.
Banning a tool doesn't mean crime and/or criminals stop. We get so focused on putting the blame on an object, that the evil doer vaporizes from the equation. Evil does Evil. Simple fact.
