I suspect that one this is over there will never be a shortage on 22 LR again. People who normally never kept more than a brick on hand are getting 5 or 10 bricks to be safe. (which is helping to keep the shortage going)
When this is done, everyone will have a lifetime supply on their shelf.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I assumed there were at least a handful of people out there hoarding with grand designs that if the SHTF they would not only have enough ammo to get by, barter for whatever else they need they'd also have enough to end up elevating themselves to king status and come out on top in a "new economy" and "be rich". Somehow I don't think it'd be that easy.

I think one thing people may not realize is that the price of brass and lead has radically gone up in the past 5 yrs.has to contribute to higher prices for any ammo.
We have been in a couple so called wars in the past 10 yrs, that will chew up a huge amt of material used to make even the rimfire stuff.
Since 911 and all the school shooting crap, police depts are utilizing huge amts of ammo just at the range.
You the casual hunter/shooter will be at the bottom of the pile as far as getting more.

Bass Pro in Dania has been getting 22 regularly for a while, but the big 525 box's are scarce.

A couple of years from now, ammo manufacturers are going to go through layoffs. The past couple of years they've made so much ammo that the market is saturated for years when people realize that they bought more ammo than they're ever going to use

It's a bit like the tulip mania.

Should civilisation grind to a halt, I think I would prefer that potential assailants were armed with tulips

I do make it a point to purchase a box of ammo that I can use if it's in stock every time I go to Wally World, but I've never quit shooting either & my supplies are starting to show. I haven't gotten back to reloading...yet, but have a feeling that I will have to for .308 as match ammo is tthrough the roof!
