this reminds of a story i saw where Taliban forces made a bomb , and set the time to go off through a cell phone or digital clock ( or something ) , well they forgot about daylight savings and where an hour off " BOOOM" that one didnt make it past the 2 builders ...

I would hate to look middle eastern in the US right now and in particular the cleared suspect in the Boston bombing. There has been more than enough hate and fear generated since 911 and there are enough whack jobs out there to make it very miserable, possibly deadly for you. It is a good thing that the majority have a more balanced POV.

I did not say that there was no reason to be fearful only that it in some cases it has reached the level of hysterics. There is a huge difference between being rightfully and dutifully vigilant and tending being carried away with it. It is very hard to judge where the balance is. The there is also the fact that post 911 national security has been a growth industry worldwide with vested interests in keep the edge on.

Rightous anger at the terrorists aside, hating foreigners or people with brown skin because someone else flew a plane in the WTC towers is stupid. I remember a report of a sikh getting killed because 'he was one of them'. A guy who did NOT kill 3000 innocents should not have to fear for his life because someone else did.

This is almost (but not quite) as stupid as what happened in the Netherlands a couple of years ago. Some nutter drove his suzuki swift into the royal parade, in an attempt to kill the royal family. The next day, people were harassing and threatening other people who drove a suzuki swift. Because apparently, driving a suzuki swift meant that you agreed with the attempted assasination.

I wish I was making this up, but I am not.

Which is why if I were that guy, I'd leave the country under police escort, courtesy of the police who want to prevent a lynching. Or failing that, I'd call up a friend and have him take me to Canada. I most certainly would not be at my known locations or out in public.
