Well - I got a few more coming in the mail:
Got this for my pocket. - D series - D25LC2 Clicky - EagleTac.com
It's a 4.5" x .9" tube, surrounding a 18650 or two 123's. At 1.7 oz, I am really hoping this will be comfortable in the pocket. At $60ish, it will not be the costliest mistake I have ever made lol. If it doesn't fit comfortably, I might just try the same flashlight in the single 123 version. My AA's just don't seem to be enough these days lol.
Anyway, as I looked for a pocket light, my wife expressed interest in a new light to walk the dog with as well. She's not as into "exotic batteries" as I am. So I struggled to find her a great little light that she could use. I picked the Sunwayman that can use both a 123 or a AA. Cool light! But just before I purchased it, I showed her Eagletac's 3 AA version - she loved it! I think she fell in love with the throw (which gets old when walking a dog lol - but is helpful at times). So $80 bucks later, it's in the mail too.
Of course I picked up some 14500's to put in it, but dang.. the more I looked into this light, the more I like the thing myself lol. Would be a great car light. I am sure it'll fit in a cup holder like a champ lol.
G series - GX25A3 - EagleTac.com
Seriously, if this thing is all it's cracked up to be - it should be a great tool.David

Well I got them! Wow!
Mine is the thiner one - the wife got the wider one. Mine is a pocket light, her's is a dog walking light.
The little green one was my old edc - but I include it for a reason.
The first thing I did was take off the pocket clip on mine and put it in my pocket. I was a bit concerned at 4.5" that it might be too long but... it fits like a charm! It'll be a great light to have on me when I need it.
The light really is great. I like that when it's tight, you know it's on turbo and with a slight click the strobe will come on. When loosened slightly, you get three usable settings. No moonlight mode unless I program it to do so. It fits the hand well and is obviously well constructed.
It's a pretty good thrower. Better than any old Maglite, but not as much as lights with deeper and larger reflectors. I don't want to make it sound like it isn't great but considering I was comparing it to my wifes...
I absolutely love how my wife's feels in the hand. It has one less "regular" modes (3) than mine (4), but it's a much better "walking" light (Both have 6 sos's / strobe / beacon settings). It has a clicky on the front of the flashlight, and it also came with an extra tail end with a clicky for redundancy if you want to use it. My wife put it on right away. In any mode, if you hold down either of the buttons, the beam comes on. If you double click and hold, the strobe comes on. It's a nice feature.
I got to say, I have a dedicated thrower and well, hers is pretty close! BUT, she's doing it on 3 AA's. Incredible. To top it off, she got hers in a "natural beam," so the beam isn't as strong as a cool, but it shows colours better. The thing is great really.
Anyway, I bought my wife some 14500 rechargeables for hers. They fit anywhere a AA would, but produce more power. Thing is the regulation on hers will not allow for said increase. They will however, last longer from what I understand. But the thing is they come in 2-packs and her light is a 3 battery job - so I put the extra into my old edc - holly moley! The extra output was/is incredible. I never thought batteries would produce that big a difference - Staggering!
Anyway - well pleased. I'll post if there is any kind of build issue that pops up.David

keep us advised on how the batteries last,,, I hate anything that eats batteries, like my M-6 laser/light.

I hear you! This is from the co. site RE my wife's 3 x AA light:
We use highly precise operating amplifier with very low offset voltage to control the output current. This allows GX25A3 to run for 100+ hours on its lowest brightness level and constant regulate all output levels without LED flicking.
At its highest brightness output, GX25A3 runs for 1.3 hour using two standard eneloop batteries with energy saving feature enabled. More runtime can be obtained when you use higher capacity batteries.
Going to have to start up night hiking again to justify this lol!!David

Do you like these 14500 rechargable batteries? The last time I used rechargable batteries was 20 years ago & they sucked.

Hirlau - I remember those days lol!! All to well. This is why I am a "late adopter" to all these new LED lights and the rechargeable batterie thing myself.
That said, this past year has really opened up my eyes as to all the great new LED lights that have taken over the market in the past 8 - 10 years. It's like there has been a quiet revolution in the flashlight industry - and batterie industry too. The lights are insane. Moreover, last years lights are redundant compared to this years lol! It's a collectors nightmare - its a racket lol - but one that's actually producing some great results for us end users lol.
The rechargeable batteries I have been using for this past year, really have been lasting. Which is exactly 11 months longer than those back in the day lol. They are regulated now... if that means anything to you lol. I am not sure I do.
I don't know if you live in a city with any kind of stores where you can play with them all... but if you can. Give it a try - you'll wish you had em back when you served .David

As an aside - the skinny light that I have holds a 18650 battery - it has as much power as 6 AA's. Its crazy!

Funny thing about LED's. They run on so much less power than yesterday's flashlights. Smaller, lighter packages are so much better. I am slowly getting the CFL's out and LED's in in my home.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
