Okay busted.... I invented it way back when. Noooo it's a pommel bag. Straps on to my saddle next to the horn. Holds 4 packs of smokes and a lighter, the hoof pick, 12 fish hooks and about 50' of fish line. small roll of wire, and 1/2 dozen condums. I always wanted to make matching saddle bags but the nylon ones I had held a case of beer iced down and held out real well for years. What do you think ,,,leather or beer ?

What does a man need with 1/2 dozen condums, if it's just you & the horse going fishing?

All the city girls come out and ride rent horses, thirsty, needing to take a break by the water, etc and so on, in secluded beach areas. pfffff I don't know about you :<0) Your mind goes places mine never dreamed of going. It's not like the fishing was great if ya know what I mean.

Mick, you inspired me to make this:

It's my first attempt at forming leather. I cut the blade shape out of a piece of scrap wood and made a press.
It's double stitched by hand, and I put the bottom stitch in the wrong spot. It looks junky, but with 8oz formed leather and a double stitch, it should be plenty sturdy.

Well I like to be inspirational, so thank you Eric. Just a tip on getting nice even stitching. Smooth curves and lines on your sheath edges and using a stitch groover which will set an even distance in from the edge and a stitching wheel to mark the spacing of your stitches.

I'll have a progress report on the bag at the end of the day. I've had a few days away from it as I've been away, but I got back to it yesterday and added a little progress. I'll be getting back to it again very soon. I'm hoping for it to be done by the end of the week. Depends on interruptions and other things needing to be done as well.
