Oh yeah.. Careful about the knives in/on the bag... Local constabulary can be very painful about stuff like that.... Seldom carry the mini blowtorch in mine anymore.

Yes, I know how they feel about it, but I'm never without one anyway. I figure if I give them reason to search me, I deserve whatever I get. And I always have the dumb farmhand card to play in the right circumstances .

Mick, if you want to see rough and ready, check out the loo roll holder I made for my room in camp:

That's right it's a piece of para cord with a bar of soap tied to the bottom, and a slipknot at the top to put on the toilet paper holder. It will hold 4 rolls.

That's just downright shoddy Ed. I'm still working on rough and ready, so don't push me. I'm just not ready for shoddy yet. Thinking I might put conchos on the shoulder strap...Maybe. Geez and we all thought Carl was indecisive!

Looks good Mick, nice stitching, like the yellow.

For the next version try boning or form fitting the tools.

Wrap them in cling wrap plastic, soak the leather in hot soapy water solution and stretch it over the tool like it will go in the pouch. You can use some rounded tool as a bone, like a rounded end wooden dowel, plastic screwdriver handles, a marble or just your fingers to stretch the leather into the corners and really form fit.

The more detail you stretch into the leather the better it will stay in the pouch or holster. You will be surprised how much it will stretch.

Cut the leather a bit large, nail, staple or clamp to a piece of wood, let dry it will keep the shape and shrink tight.

I know you said quick and dirty, but leather work is addictive. This won’t be your last bag, I fear you are fairly well bit...

I was thinking the same thing. here's and example of what we're talking about. I make cases for razors (this is for the gillette slim adjustable).I make them in 2 halves and stitch them together, only the mold is made of wood.

i love the way the leather holds it's shape and makes a truly custom fit case.

Well thanks Mick, you really know how to make a guy feel special . It was just a quick and easy solution to a pile of spare bog roll on the floor.
If cochos arr those little decorative round metal medallion sort of things, then I wouldn't, but then again its your handbag.

Thanks Gents, I appreciate your advice, and as dubious as it might sound from looking at this project, I've actually done a bit of form fitted leather work with pocket knife pouches. And yes I could have done that here, but that isn't what I'm aiming at.

As for making more. I have plans for making maybe three more. One for each of my children, but not for a few more years yet. When they will appreciate the effort a bit better. But for now, you can be damn sure this is my last bag...

Nice mould for the razor Tintin. I just make them up as I need them. I never seem to do the same thing twice. Everything is a different shape or size, so I don't do much more than make a temporary mould. I should make them more permanent and store them with a note for what they are for, just in case. I'll do that down the track when I set about making cases for some of my pipes.

You're most welcome Ed. I like to make people feel appreciated .

I'm still tossing the idea around with the concho's but I have the same reservations that it would make it more of a handbag, even though they look fine when I sit them in place on the strap, the whole thing together might look a bit naff. And it was just an idea to do away with a little bit of hand stitching. The shoulder strap is three piece...Well it's one piece now, but only because I've sewn the pieces together at one point. Two narrow straps on top of a wider strap.

Well thanks for the input and encouragement from everyone so far. I might yet live to regret going public with this project, but I'll survive and hopefully I'll prove to be the push for a few of you who are thinking that they might like to try something like it as well.

Well it would go well with a tassely leather jacket and some cowboy boots though.
