I do also! It has it's idiosyncrasies, But they are far out weighed by the benefits!
The biggest negative is that as we get older it would be nice to stand up inside. We have a tent to attach but if you are not there for more than a day it is not worth the effort. And most places I camp I am not worried about offending the neighbors while I change clothes....

I am hoping once I hit retirement age to hook one up and go coast to coast with my wife and stop at good fishing holes and other interesting sites.

Try it a year or two before you retire! Certainly not the same as back packing but you have to limit yourself.....
I have a breakdown fishing pole under the mattress storage on the left side. I have only used it only once but was camped beside a nice lake that was not in the plan.
For example, one pan two plates are all you need. Maybe a couple of reserve paper plates for unannounced guests that don't bring their own!

I just sold a 9/10 year old 2 man hiking tent and am about to purchase a MSR Elixir 2 as the replacement.
At least the MSR is 2kg's lighter than the tent it's replacing.
I also just purchased the Primus Eta Express Stove set through Massdrop at a $65 saving off MSRP.Tony

Aloha!
After motorcycle camping (no trailer in tow - just the three hard luggage bags) since 1995 coast to coast, I have certainly learned to pack essential and light, yet comfortable. I had always thought that moving up to a "Teardrop" would be like moving into the Taj Mahal for me. Then a few years ago, I was lucky enough to get a huge LL Bean Cabin Tent (10 x 14) on Craigslist for pennis on the dollar. This tent was manufactured in about 1980 and they don't build them like this any longer. It's truly a tank of tents. And huge compared to my 3 person motorcycle camping tents. When I loaded up an automobile trunk and back seat (instead of motorcycle luggage bags) with camping equipment and this huge tent and went camping, it was like staying at a hotel. I could not believe the luxury. So if I ever went with a camper, I may look at something just a tad bigger than a Teardrop.
I have looked at Teardrop campers in the past with a serious eye, but bigger, for me, may be better. Not drastically bigger, but big enough to stand up inside, have a little shower/toilet for emergencies or wilderness camping, and a place to cook, sit and eat inside - just in case it was truly foul weather outside for a few days. But Teardrops have always held my interest. They are great little campers. If I had not purchased that big LL Bean cabin tent, I'd never have realized that having a larger structure around you when camping can sometimes really be nice.

Just back from another weekend in the teardrop. We keep a log/diary of when and where we go. We had one in our pop up camper until the kids decided they needed to start a fire or color! It is approaching its 2 year anniversary and when I did a quick count we are around 60 days of use. A month a year average is pretty good.
It doesn't just sit in the driveway like many I see!
