Will the lid for the tool box have gaskets so that it will be weatherproof? You're pretty crafty!

Not sure I’ll be needing a new MSD set up Tom.
I have a crane XR-700 Electronic Ignition kit already on the car. Might still end up swapping to Mikuni’s though..
And I’m not sure if the original lid had weatherstripping John, as there is a drain in the box bottom, but I will be adding some for sure. Will help with weather and any vibrations I figure.

I find MSD is not only about racing, Mike. With 20+ degrees of spark, archaic old advance mechanisms can be locked-out. Also complete burning of funky mixtures from old, multiple carbs will be efficiently burned. Car will start like right now. Performance across the spectrum will be greatly improved.
Won't care about hot-soak either. Hit the starter and BAM, it's running. Plugs will stay clean. Better mileage. An efficient power-adder!
    Nothing fancy.
Just a 6AL box triggered by your electronic distributor or even a set of points minus the condenser. Points will last indefinitely as there is almost no current needed to trigger the box. Every one I have installed has tickled my customers pink.

Best thing I ever did for my Tiger. I won't ever have another old car without it.
And yes, Lucas makes a blue performance coil which is compatible!

Sounds worth the upgrade. I’ll look into the msd kit after work.
The 6AL box? Complete burn of fuel and no more vacuum advance requirement sounds good to me.
    Thanks buddy!

I think they make a 6A which costs less.

I use the old analog type. The current ones are digital.

The outfit in Taiwan who produced the analog ones made some no-name ones after MSD went total digital.
Same part. No name. Cheep on ebay. I keep them on the shelf and have had nothing but good luck with them..

Multi spark discharge sounds interesting. And I defer to your experience Tom, so if you wouldn’t mind and recommend this upgrade, let me know what I owe you for it and I’ll send the $
Think my dissy has been upgraded to pointless but I’m gonna check. My crane system is potentially 30 years old now as well so I might benefit in ways I don’t even know yet. Like hot starts, which are a problem. I am adding heat shields between intake and exhaust during that step, but a hotter spark is good for a number of reasons.

Your Crane box is most likely a multiple spark discharge. I would bet you could use that in the same way.
These can be triggered by points or most any electronic trigger. Mine is triggered off a late 70's Ford distributor with stock magnetic pickup. You must just simply lock down centrifugal advance and omit vacuum advance. IE, a 'fixed' distributor.
Lay it out on the bench and wire it up with a battery with the dist in the vice. Spark tester from the coil.
When it's all set up you can turn the distributor and see the ZAP as you turn it.
    Kindof like your Jacobs Ladder!

OK, I'll admit I haven't the foggiest idea what much of this is all about, but it sounds like fun!!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Here is a guy showing it. Look at the duration of the MSD spark as well as intensity. Hear that squeak sound?
    Ions being split!

If he had used a spark tester opened-up an inch instead of a spark plug it would be pretty dramatic.
