Got my new leaf springs and the koni conversion kit for the MG and with a few days of rain in the forecast decided to start into the upgrade now instead of waiting for the winter.
The old furlong shock units came off easily as they were off during the rebuild. Important that I save that hardware as it is needed for the new adapter plates.
The old leaf hardware is a different story. Those bolts can be sawzalled out as the new ones come with hardware.

Can see that there was so much bounce I crushed my right rear brake line from the axle hitting the exhaust pipe.
    Not cool.

I’ll save the original shocks for someone doing a numbers matching restore ad these are impossible to find any longer but am really looking forward to slapping on the adjustable Koni’s tonight when I get home.
    Cheers gents.

ENDED up taking off the rear bumper and valance so I could get to the rear leaf mounts.
Shock hardware saved for the new shocks and the koni’s are adjusted to mid firmness as a starting point.

Unloaded these old ones still have close to original curve, but on the car I think they were softer.
Will know tomorrow if all goes well.

Course, raining now so road test will wait for the am. But just trying to bounce her yields almost no body movement now, for what thats worth.

You have way less smoke/haze from the Canadian fires than we do.

You couldn't see accros Lake Pepin today.

    in a word. Fantastic.
I had no idea how much of the vibration, and rattle the car still had was in the back end.
She’s quieter, smoother, at speed. No issues over all the known bumps to avoid historically, and just feels proper.

This shot, from the front security camera, shows how clean I got the line for the tonneau cover c/l.
It’s those little details I’m most proud of on this restoration.

No smoke really. Wind direction has been favorable and we are just normal rain cloud overcast.
    Thankfully.
