And if you look really close at the picture above with the rims in the trunk, to the left you will see my winter project peeking out..
Pulled the trigger on that 5 spd gearbox while in Brampton. The guy didn’t want it and acquired it in a trade himself, so I was able to work it out that it was in my trunk for 400 cash. Supposedly previous owner replaced the syncro’s in it. I may just tear it down as part of the plan to make sure. And prolly won’t even consider the rest of the kit to convert it till it goes on sale, or my 4 spd starts to act up.
For now, it goes under the bench and into the ‘just in case’ category.

Oiled them up and gave them a test drive. Had to lower my idle rpm a bit so maybe I wasn’t breathing as well as I could.
Designed for a motorbike installation of the carb’s but I won’t tell anyone, shhhh.
Cowl just rubs up against the face of the Frwd filter but I don’t seem to feel anything while driving. Will look for wear marks over the next few weeks cause otherwise I will have to figure a custom air box design next summer.
    Cheers.

If that cowl is rubbing you have to berestricting the flow.

The filter sits right in the louvre area, and by rubbing, I mean the edge of the chrome @ 1 o’clock position contacts the hinge point flange. I do think they are breathing better.
But I agree, if I was blocking the face of the filter, I would be restricting things even worse than the trumpets were.
I think having to lower the rpm also supports the increased air flow now.

Close the right bonnet and open the left. Reach across and take a picture with your phone?

Definitely contacting, and looks like it deflects that filter slightly.
    Hmmm.

Seems to have plenty flow. Some grease on the bonnet where it rubs.
    Get it on!

Agreed! That is one of the most beautiful cars ever designed (IMHO). Up there with the E Type Jag.

I'd have to pass on the other one though as it would never make it into my driveway. And for many hundreds of thousands of other reasons too.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

That red towhook is a nice contrast but I feel sorry for the wallet of anyone that would need to use it.
