Last semi together picture for a while.

Cowl pieces safely wrapped in moving blankets and stashed in the rafters till spring.
Kinda like this look, and were it not for the cops possibly giving me a hassle, would love to rip around a bit like this in the spring.

Around here they wouldn't stop you for something like that.

Around here they can't stop you for out of date tabs, no tailights or similar things!

I feel lucky i haven’t got pulled over for never putting the front plate on tbh.
And while I din’t intend not to, I’m glad I didn’t for how many pictures people take of her. One less way to look her up after the fact, as it were.

There are so many rules that anyway that we try we end up breaking one or another.

I once borrowed a freinds boat and the game warden stopped me. I had all the life preservers, licenses, needed etc but I didn't know where his horn was. I am glad that they didn't ask. LOL

When I got back he said it is right here!

While cleaning parts I noticed this speedo drive gear has taken lots of abuse on the donor transmission. Prolly after it was out of the car rolling on the floor, but regardless I went seeking a mechanical drive for a 30 year old transmission. Found one, but with visions of thunder dome in my head I had to go all the way to Aus to find someone still making them.
Bloke’s a right proper gear head though cause after telling him what I’ve got the engine in, he worked with me to get the right gearing to mate with my 3.7 rear diff.
Long story short, the speedometer will be accurate for the first time in like 50 years, once she’s back together.
He’s already posted it to the Australian mail service and I could have it before Christmas..

Found a lil boo boo in the tray after all.
Looks like she lost a pin at some point that ended up in the bottom of the pan, and also grazed a gear or two along the way.

Only place. I think it could be from is the second shift fork up by the shifter itself. Looks like it fit in the hole in this pic.

Presume it was some kind of shift detent for preventing slipping into reverse, not sure. Need google or someone with manual tranny experience to ‘splain it to me.

Think a closer look at the rear gear sets is in order while I await the gaskets..

Good you saw that. Looks like it's missing a spring and retainer of some sort.
We don't need no stinking reverse lockout!

Yup, it definitely goes in that hole. Been playin with the shift sequence trying to figure it out.
Not sure if it was fixed or could plunge in and out. No other goodies found. Seems to interact with the lever I removed as part of the case removal that holds the actual shifter in place, but only associated with reverse, somehow.
Hell if I can live without it and just need to shift properly, I can do dat,,
    Here’s an exploded view..
The dotted line on the image actually shows both the arm with the pin in it, and the things it interacts with.

Found a young dude that rebuilds these and his vid explained a lot.
Cept if the pin was spring loaded or solid.
Either way I can live without it.
