Good beer / ale
How about discussing our favorite beers?
My personal favorite is Grimbergen Tripel atm. It is served in 33 cc glasses, golden brown of color, and 9% alcohol content.
I also like Ciney (the white one) and Grimbergen (Blond)
Grimbergen also carries a beer named 'Optimo Bruno' at 10% alcohol. It is pretty good, but a bit too brown for my taste.
But Belgium has soooo many excellent beers, so I could list dozens and still not list all the beers I like.
In college I drank 'Limburgse Witte' almost exclusively. It is a smooth white beer with 5,5 % alcohol content. I started drinking it because they put an extremely goodlooking girl on the beer coasters (and they say advertising doesn't work ) When I was done with college I was used to drinking 15 glasses on an evening without being sick or really drunk. It is a skill you have to build up carefully, and nourish. Good times... good times...
All this talk has pushed me over the edge. I am going to get a Nice cold Grimbergen as soo as I polished Mark's razorTil shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Sounds silly, but I'll tell ya anyway-- There is a "Monty Python" brand of ale called Monty Python and The Holy Ale, a knock The Holy Grail movie...
I got some as a goof gift for my birthday last year, but it is impressive.
You can find it at any standard beer market...I get it at Giant Eagle supermarket near where I live...they have any impressive beer selection

if I'm just hanging out with close friends and not trying to be impressive, I'll drink anything that's cold and alcoholic, I usually enjoy 40oz Mickey's Fine. another (local) favorite is Shiner, I prefer bock or black, don't care for their light stuff.
if I'm having folks over and need to impress them I'll get a nice import like Kirin or Chimaz (which I'm spelling wrong). another good local beer for me is St. Arnold.
best beer I've ever had was called Blackened Voodoo, can't get it anymore, the brewery was destroyed by katrina. hopefully they will get back in the business.

Yes Guinness, definitely. And Blackened Voodoo, yes, I had that once years ago.
We're lucky enough to have an excellent brewery in Chicago: Goose Island--I've liked everything I've tasted from them, but my favorite G.I. brew might be Honker's Ale.
And in the weeks before Halloween, I try to get a four-pack of Nosferatu, from the Great Lakes Brewing Company. Scary good.

Thanked: 0So many to list....
Just a few off the top of my head....
Boddingtons Pub Ale, Omegang's Three Philosophers, Sam Adams Irish Red, Turbo Dog, Trainwreck, Guiness, Southern Tier's Phin and Matts....a couple of these are microbrews which might be hard to find if you're not in the NY/ New England area.
As far as my faithful go-to beer, it would have to be Magic Hat #9....
