Weeell Heinekin and Smella are both owned by the same company Interbrew. We mean the small Independent Brewerys. Unfortunately Sarah Hughes deosn't have a web site, but Enville do and I just found out it is them that brew the Gothic too - Enville Ales

We have just missed the beer festival here, 240 ales and ciders over 3 days.

May I also recommend Wychwood's Hobgoblin and Black Wych - Wychwood Brewery

You have to love the wierd and wonderful names they come up with for these brews, like Piddle in The Snow, Dragons Titty, Old Fart....................

Hmm. I'm driving from Seattle to Aberdeen then Aberdeen to Depoe Bay next week. Maybe I need to swing by and find these places on my way down.

There's nothing in Aberdeen as far as Brew-pubs go, but do make a stop at the Chester Club in South Bend for their fried oysters. They're pretty damned good. The Black Butte porter on tap goes well with that.

Once you cross the Astoria-Megler bridge, hang a left at the light and head straight into town. At 11th st. make another left and park anywhere. Walk down towards the river and the last place on the right before the trolley tracks is the "Wet Dog". It's a very good brew-pub. It has a decent restaurant and some great beer. It also has a beautiful view of the river. Yo can watch the big ships swing by as you're drinking and dining. The porter is great, as is the heffewiezen. Another place just a few blocks from there is the Ft. George Brewery. Their stout is very good, but at 8% ABV, you don't want too much of a good thing, if you know what I mean. The Vortex IPA that they brew there is very popular locally. It's on tap at a few local taverns and restaurants on both sides of the river.

Actually, they're not, but Becks and Smella are, and it's InBev now after Interbrew's merger with with AmBev.

    Default great divide

we have a local store in omaha (beertopia) that sells everything you can thing of. they get a little pricey, bt it is well worth it. my favorite is anything by a company called great divide. their titan IPA, hercules IIPA, yeti imperial stout, and fresh hop ale are all really impressive. the fresh hop ale is brewed within 2 hrs of picking the hops. tasty! anyone else brew their own beer around here?

Indeed! There is a brewing thread kicking around if you want to discuss brewing

What type of hops do they use in the imperial stout? Are they talking about flavour hops or the bittering addition?

they only say that they use american hops, piney citrusy stuff. all the hop stages use fresh hops for the fresh hop pale ale. (buy it if you can find it)

Probably Columus or Chinook, then. They are US bittering hops with citrus flavours in them.

Apologies on mixing Becks and Heinie up, I deem them all irrelevant as Lager doesn't agree with me anyway.
