Aw MAN! Sorry Mike. I (Wife) have a 14 year old Pom . Best little dog ever.

Cure is to go out and get another. Closest thing or better?

I am actually on the program to recycle pet names.
Hard to see so many go.

I sometimes don't know why I open this thread as it often breaks my heart, and I never know what to say except that I'm so sorry for your loss and understand the pain you are going through.

Mike and Steve, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your best buddies, Pal and Cherino. The pain can be unbearable but try and remember member the good times and the love you shared.

    Mark,
Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. I woke up a few minutes ago & I was wishing the whole thing was just a long drawn out dream but one thing I know, he's in a much better place now. He & Mikes dog Pal are playing together with all the other dogs in Heaven, they are no longer feeling bad but only for their masters for they know they are missed.
Cherino was a fighter & was protective over me & his home. Whenever the mailman, UPS & Fedex would come by he raised hell like the day before when Fedex made a delivery. Sometimes the postman would sneak the mail w/o making a noise but any other time, he was at the door barking, raising hell & wanting to jump through the door at them. He was 85 lbs & many times when people would come to the door, they were surprised when he suddenly appeared & they would step back about 10 feet from the front door. It happened yesterday, the same day he left this world when a guy rang the doorbell & my buddy jumped up & ran to the door no matter his ill health declining & the guy stepped back but was soliciting steaks & seafood. He protected me & his home until the very end & I'll never forget him.

What hurts more is my dog before him was poisoned & that really ripped me apart that some low life(s) would do such a thing. I had 2 dogs then but he was my inside dog & they did it to gain access to my home & steal everything of value I owned. I called my vet that time & asked if he could tell if my dog had been poisoned & he said to bring him in if I could. I did & it was the end of the day but he called the next morning & verified it. I then moved but it wasn't long when I woke up one morning & my other dog which was dead outside in the same condition so I didn't bother, I knew. The people I had known until I found out they were up to no good & I told them to never come back at the time. That was when they poisoned my first dog. Then I saw one of those assholes at the convenience store & I took a long way home hoping I lost them but apparently I didn't. Either that or he may have gotten sick but I seriously doubt it.
They're all in a better place now.

Thanks all as well, shared loss of love makes the hurt hurt less..
First few days are the hardest. The empty echo of claws on hardwood and the now quiet responses to the doorbell,, these are the tear triggers today.
Our other dog is at odds looking for her older brother..
Nature abhors a vacuum, so the space will fill, albeit slowly.

Tom, you are right, and I am open to a new addition when we find him or her.

A good day to keep my hands busy and mind distracted.
The men here are, and always have been a great resource and sounding board for the challenges life throws at us.
My thanks for the site, and the gentlemen that keep it real..

Sorry to hear of both your losses, at least the pain and suffering is over for them. But they'll live forever in our memories, as family always will.

I feel for you two, for my own eyes well with tears from my past memories of four legged companions.
    Mike

I'm sure you were both the best possible humans your dogs could ever want, and that they were obviously loved. May your fond memories comfort you in this difficult time.
