    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the congrats! I raced Solings & J-24s out of MYC for many years! And taught sailing on Lake Michigan when I was an undergrad..Ever do the Queen's Cup?

    Congratulations.

I used to do a lot of flying back in my college days. I never actually took formal lessons or was really interested in getting certified but my friend I flew with taught me how to fly.

So are you going to continue with this and get instrument rated?

    Hi BigSpendur,

Thanks for the congrats! That's great that you had the chance to go up with your friend. Yes, I will work on my IFR later this year, but I need to have at least 50 hours x-c time of 50 miles+, so right now just going to take friends/family up for a bit of sight-seeing!

Another congrats, Bob! Good choice of cigar too. I'm about to finish up my CFI myself, so I know the feeling.

[I got my multi in my forum name--really nice ship, but drank AvGas.]

Thanks PA23..I'd love to fly an Aztec sometime! Did do a fly-out with another student and CFI in a Duchess last fall..only multi experience I've had, but it was sweet!

Congrats on your CFI... going to start teaching right away after you get certificated?

'Tis the plan. The challenge is getting into a certain FBO where you can actually make a living doing it. I'm told it's tricky to convince the management...

    Hi Bob,

Yes, I have sailed the Queens Cup, the Hook, the Wind Point, Port Washington, as well as Louies Last Regatta races. We also sail competitively every wed. Last year we took 2nd in our division/class and 23rd overall in the Queens Cup. There were a total of 180+ boats competing, so we did well. I help crew a 42' Catalina named Sandpiper and our skipper Dick Pfoerch and his wife are seasoned veterans at 80 years of age. I have learned so much from him and love sailing, kind of like straight razor shaving, I becomes a passion/addiction.

    Congratulations!
You have plenty of good stuff to look forward too if you are taking your instrument! It is even more fun

172 is a nice plane, but it is a shame you missed out on the 152, it is my favorite cessna

    Thanks Anders,

I may try a 152 sometime...mainly a "fit" issue, since I'm 6'4", plus another inch for the headphones!
