There were several Jap rifles, Mike, but this thing is really light. I was thinking of those small guys letting go with a heavy bullet and the recoil! This round is close to a .303.
I guess they were tough. Killed a lot of our boys with them.
This one was made to defend from the invasion that never came. Crude and rough. Simple peep sight. No cleaning rod.
Literally un-issued.

I guess the streets in front of some Justice's homes will be filled with protesters protesting something else.
Not much in the news on it.
Letting criminals out and denying your right to protection while not a cop in sight seems self-explanatory.
Good that some can have a sliver of a prayer of getting a permit in NY...

I did not think gun control as much as the right to defend one's self.
It's getting dangerous out here. No matter where you are. JMO.

I don't know if all here saw my posts in the "Hunting Guns" thread. So I'll post here too.
I've been in the market for a lever action 357 for over 10 years. I had a Marlin 44 Magnum lever about 15 years ago but sold it. It was more kick than I liked, and I don't need a cartridge that strong. 357 is plenty enough for me.
Besides, I can reload 38/357 without even thinking about it, having reloaded that cartridge since the early 90s. And it's a very versitile cartridge without a neck. I don't like reloading necked cartridges. I think I'll finally act on acquiring one today.
I have checked around and the manufacturers I'd prefer (Browning, Marlin) are simply not available. The two that are available are Rossi and Henry. I prefer the Rossi for a few reasons. It's a bit smaller and lighter (Carbine), and has a side load for cartridges. The Henry is very well built, but larger, heavier, and you load it directly in the lower magazine by removing a spring loaded feeder and and then putting the cartridges directly in the magazine tube. That really is not for me. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to lever action "Western" style firearms. I like the classic Winchester style. The Rossi is also less expensive than the Henry. I'm going to be a very casual user of this firearm, so I don't need something built for battle.
I'll be at the store today. We'll see if I "pull the trigger" on this one;
