Back, sort of like a bad 1911 penny, with more 1911 guns and caliber variants.

This time with full size and weight .22 that Colt once offered for unique rim fire 1911 gun fun. With its floating chamber, said to be designed by David (Carbine) Williams of M1 Carbine design fame, the pistol was said to mimic the recoil of the .45 caliber pistols. I never felt this sensation at all, but only a curious, not unpleasant stutter. The design is a very interesting study. The Ace is also said to be persnickety to shoot and not too reliable. I've found that the pistol has distinct likes and dislikes about which ammunition it prefers, but is trouble free with .22 Long Rifle loadings that it likes. It's also not the pistol for those who don't tend to fastidiousness in firearms maintenance for it's said to not like to be dirty. I've never tested this as I've always cleaned this one every 200 rounds. This works no hardship and allows for much shooting pleasure on a nice afternoon at the range or in the field. It's said to not be the most accurate .22 pistol out there. This is true, but it doesn't give poor accuracy at all and can stack 'em in there if I'm in a "shooting humor." It's good enough for nice groups on paper, or tin cans, or squirrel or rabbit heads at 20 yards. I mostly shoot CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain solids in this Ace, made in 1983, last year of production.

Highly recommended if one seeks the .22 pistol that most accurately mimics size, weight, and balance of its center fire 1911 kin.

My father had one, don't know what happened to it. Wasn't in his collection, once he passed

This weapon reminds me of like whenever you order a "Big Mac" and get it home only to find there isn't any meat on the buns! Just lettuce and bread. Looks like a Big Mac, but sure ain't one!

Oh, but for an avowed lover of all things .22 rim fire, a full sized blued steel 1911 gun in .22 has its own yummy flavor of meat.

When I was a kid my father bought me a Bowning .22 lever action rifle. It was a gorgeous gun. I wish I still had it. Now I see these Henry cowboy guns and I’m envious.

Should have stuck this one up before the Ace for it's two years older than the Ace is and I was going in order of oldest to newest.

This is a garden variety Colt Government Model in 9mm Luger, made in 1981 near the end of the Mark IV/Series 70 era. For years I thought that 9mm in a full sized 1911 was a waste of space. Some years before acquiring this pistol, I was able to have the use of one just like it for a fun afternoon plinking session. It was most pleasant to burn up ammunition in the fellow's full sized 9mm Government Model pistol. He offered to sell it to me, but I thought the price was a bit dear. Still, I recollected the afternoon as magical and came to want a 9mm chambered 1911. So, fast forward a few years and I ended being punished for not seeing an opportunity and spent more than his asking price to acquire this one. Sometimes my gun trading and acquisition doesn't look so astute.

It's lots of fun too. I've only ever given it range time or careful plinking use, but it's great for burning up cheap factory 9mm ammunition without having to reload 9mm, something I don't much enjoy doing. I'd never carry it seriously for I don't much admire 9mm for serious social purposes, but I sure do like some handguns found chambered for the cartridge. In recent times even cheap 9mm ammo hasn't been so cheap so this pistol is not seeing as much use.

The 1911-gun in 9mm must have struck a chord in recent times for 9mm 1911s are the hottest thing going these days.

Oh, I don't mind John. Forum ribbing is fun and one needs to be able to take it as well as he might dish it out. I'm just enthused about furthering the cause of the 1911.

I agree. I only have 4 1911's in my collection.
