Thanked: 101Captain Black "Black Sea" in the bent sandblast. I smoke Shortcut to Mushrooms and Mississippi Mud in this bowl and this is very similar to it. Good so far.

Just finished my first bowl ever. Dunhill my mixture 965 out of a brand new MM cob. I don't think I packed it enough as the draw was loose and airy. I also think it may need to dry out a little bit as there was some bite. I suppose it could of been me too. I tried to "sip" the pipe instead of puff it, but it still tasted like I may have been a little too aggressive in smoking it.
The blend is a little too smoky for my taste I think but there is so many moving parts to this pipe smoking thing I don't think I can pass any sort of meaningful judgement for myself. There were many nice flavors but they seemed to be overpowered by the smoke/charcoal head note.
Any how, I really appreciate all the help I've had, between PM's and the thread I started I feel well equipped enough to make a mess of things. At least I can't lop an ear off with a pipe!Last edited by jfk742; 07-28-2015 at 05:51 AM.

Congrats on your first bowl ever, sir but excuse me for asking this:
Dunhill My Mixture 395 as you just wrote is unknown to me.
Perhaps I am not well informed or otherwise it must be something new into the Dunhill line.
Anyway I can't find it on Dunhill - All Blends tobaccoreviews.com either.
Are you sure about that number 395 ?
The only Dunhill blend close to that number I know is My Mixture 965 which is a Scottish blend and contains Cavendish, Latakia, Oriental/Turkish and Virginia.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
With friendly greetings
Chris

Tinkering into the garden house whilst smoking some Florina Semois out of a cheap bulldog.
This is a Kentucky burley tobacco with a grassy earthy smell, very high on vitamin N, burns quick due to the shag cut. Notwithstanding tonka beans are forbidden by law it smells a bit to it into the pouch. A real codgers tobacco. The leaf is cultivated in the valley of the river the Semois into the Ardennes (Wallonia, the French speaking part of Belgium). For those Americans among the forum members who are interested in WW II, the Ardennes refer to the Battle of the Bulge.

It lingers your pipe with a immense ghost. You better dedicate a pipe for it.
Don't smoke this on an empty stomach. You may call me 'sissy' but If I smoke this one I always have a can of lemonade by hand otherwise it give me hiccups. I admit only smoking this one a couple of bowls a year.
In 2013 there was an article written about the artisanal version of this tobacco, 'la Brumeuse' (which is French for <The Misty one>), into the New York Times.
http://http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/14/magazine/tobacco-thats-so-brooklyn-but-made-in-belgium.html?pagewanted=all&_r=2#
If you love reading about tobacco a must do. Beautiful slide show. Gregory Pease (GL Pease Tobacco) described <la Brumeuse> as 'rustic, powerfull and intense'.
Ever since it's hard to find into Belgium. A lot of this tobacco is meant for the export to the USA I presume?
I hope both links are working. If not sorry.Stranger, here you will do well to tarry, here our highest good is pleasure (Epicurus)
