What's all this business about chewing pipe tobacco??

I was very sick , but im okay alredy and have new Jnats and some new pipe beautys lying alround

Last double shift this month starts in 10 hours. It was worth the money but it took a lot outta me.......Churchwarden and tea to decompress before bed.

Chewing rope isnt good . The sailors used to chew ropes and flakes as they have limited volume personal bagage on board
In this reason they twist and compresed tobacco , as it was affordable to be imported much more on deck , and also it was easy to handle and cut
Later they understnd that the compresing is important for the tobacco fermentation . They chew tobacco , because the captain did not alow smoking at all time on board ,so the nicotine junkies had to chew the ropes
Twice a day the captain release the pipe smoking , on main deck and over the water , under surveillence
this was all to avoid fire on board
the ships back then was made of flamable materials only - wood , canvas , coton and ect
So a sparke from the pipe can sink the hole ship or damage it for seconds
chewing is much unhealthier for the organisme compared to smoking

I remember when i was a kid, chewing tobacco was much more common, but almost unknown these days.

I know some folks in local pipe & cicar clubs still use chewing tobacco. I've tried few times.
Genuine chewing tobacco is damn strong when smoked in a pipe.

Nowadays snus has replaced chewing tobaccos. It is very common. Even folks that have never smoked use snus regularly.

The look of the grain and design of those pipes Rusen, are simply beautiful. Nicely done.

I tried chewing tobacco when I went to the US. I bought a packet of 'Redman'. I didn't take to it, though it was an interesting experience. Not as interesting as my mates, who I got to try it when I got back home to Australia though. He learnt the hard way (I told him not too though). He liked it so much he didn't spit, he swallowed. He didn't take to it after that either.

I'm going out for a puff on a cob nose warmer in a few minutes. I might even take a photo.
