You know i tried last night and this morning to grab a tin of the Aperitif and Early Morning Pipe but their website glitches out when i try to checkout. Ill have to try it again when i need to stock up.
I went to my local shop and they had the same tins but for about $10 more a piece. I decided to wait on the Dunhill, but got a few 1 oz. bags of recommended blends from the shop and a bent meerschaum corncob.

Thanked: 369Today decided to re-awaken another of gramps pipes (and I'm guessing based on internet info) a pre-WWII "Royal" Comoy's octagon paneled billiard with Uhle's Black Stoker aromatic. I'm leaning more towards the non-aromatics, but Uhle's makes some fine non-goopy, non-gurgley aromatic blends.

Just finished Billy Budd in my Boswell estate. I really enjoy the Billy Budd.
I have a favor to ask gentlemen. Should anyone find the Cornell & Deal Beast that was released yesterday kindly pm or email me. 777 tins were released and I have searched well over 50
sources to no avail. All show sold out. : )Bob

Anyone familiar with Custombilt pipes ? Here are a couple of oldies but goodies I thought y'all might enjoy for their being unusual. Can't say how they smoke. Got 'em smoked but never smoked them myself. The dog head is marked Custombilt over Imported Briar, the Owl has had the 'Custombilt' buffed off, but the Imported Briar' remains.
.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 168Well i will tell you something abbout the perfect pipe - it is like the perfect woman or like the perfect Hone or perfect Jnat
Somethingthat i like isnt so valuable in my neighbour eyes
As a pipemaker i have see and made quite a few pipes , i have repair a lot and i have intrest in old school wayas , as i like history and traditions
Now they used to smoke a very tight holes pipes and they put them a condesator in the air chanels , as this provoke gurgling and insuficient air vlume
They smoke a lot harsher blends that those days present /exuse me for the english /
They smoke theyre pipes an hours as the pipe was relightened and put into the pocket as it self suffocates
The present days pipes are a entirely new generation as the standarts fo air chanels , mounthpiece geometry and lips and the cooling system knowledge evoluate
The normal ckanel or air hole was 3.5 mm to 3.8 max and now the size of the 99% of the modern made pipes is over 4 mm and reach 6 mm in som filter pipes . The thing is that the construction folow the need or the demant of the function of the pipe
In old times they whant to smoke the pipe few hours , but the pipe was very hard to smoke Now we use more open airhole pipes as the pipesmoking i developed in another way
We whant in fact now a clean easy draw , and slow burning , not sufocating the tobacco . We dont smoke now the way they smoke in old days - light - puff vigourously and puting the pipe back into the pocket
Now we whant the volume of the draw to be consistent and to assure a slow burning in the chamber , with less effort on the puffig
The wider lips gave a needed air volume in the thin mounthpiece end , in fashion as the volume is not drasticaly cut , and the taste is mellow in this way It is because the air hits the tongue receptors diferently and cover wider terytory of the tongue and gave the feeling of mellow and satysfuyng smoke
I can tell you a lot abbout this subject as i have experimenting and opening the air holes of a lot of pipes for rends and customers The opinion is aways the same - Wow it is a totaly diferent pipe now - it smokes wonderfuly
Everyone can do this it seld with the propriate set of specific instruments
The thing is that the Ventury principle must be made in practice corectly and the pipe will reward you with a most satyfuyng draw and cool smokes
I will gave the example with the jet fighters - the evolution from first to 3 genetation was enourmous and after experiencing what works and what doesnt , the millitary engeneers developped a fighters that satysfy the modern needs of the deffence
th 3 and 4 generation foghters were made bigger , most powerfull , as they used to carry the heavy amunitions for a effective airstrikes
now the latest generation 4 and 5 generation jet fighters like SU 35 SU 37 and SU 47 are developped in another way entirely
As the weight or the amunitions decreased dramaticaly - they made a lighter and extremely maneuvrable jets that have opportunity to dtect multiple target - up to 260 at one time and make map of the topography and send constantly data to the base
They work not so much to make upper speed higher as the lower speed lower and this create an exteremely suple and effective fighters that can fourfill every demand in combat situations - fluyng low under radars stay at 1 place , fluyng a lot more without refuel and an entierly new propulsion systems - vector propulsion and multiple anti raddar and other diferent systems that work automatical and independant
Why i am sayng that - the demand creates the engeneering the smaller lighter new generation Jets are making the old school F22 of F 16 of MIG jet fighters ridiculously weak and uneffective
The same way the new generation pipes with entierely new inside ingenering and calabash cooling systems make the old pipes ridiculous
the cooling of the smoke and air hole draw is entierely diferent and make the old pipes very unnefective as a matter of cool satysfuyng smokeLast edited by RusenBG; 05-01-2016 at 09:11 AM.

Thanked: 168Women are selfish creatures Once a guy was asked from hih women - why you spend so many hours with his hunting dogs and why so litle time with her
The answer was - because my dogs are the only creatures that are faithfull to me and love me withowt demands , in this house
I think this can answer or cover the hole thing about the women .

Bowl number 3 since yesterday. Tried the Connoisseurs Blend yesterday afternoon in the Dr G. A nice smoke, very powerful flavor. Found out the cob pipe i bought was damaged so i returned to the shop last night. Got a replacement and an extra one. Proprietor gave me a free sample of another house blend and i picked up one more. Currently smoking the Two Monks blend.. slightly aromatic, much more mellow on the tongue. Tried their Trout Brook blend last night, also an aromatic with a much more intense flavor. By the way these cob pipes are pretty nifty. Enjoy your Sunday all.
