Thanked: 1160I love my system pipe. But I never pull it apart till it's good and cool.First a cleaner through the stem, then one through the wood section taking care to swab out the trap, then I insert a fresh cleaner through the stem and put the pipe together with the pipe cleaner in it to soak up any excess moisture. When it's time to smoke I just pull the cleaner out without breaking the pipe apart.I also never have a gurgle problem with it. You must really either be huffing that pipe good or I would say if you are smoking aromatics through it,then that is when you get a lot of gurgle.

Nope does it no matter what. And just to clarify it isnt a true system pipe but it does have some features of them. The trap isnt big enough to do much and because its there, funny drilling was needed as to impede pipe cleaner use. 2 pipes same issue. No aromatics used and I changed even to drier tobacco.I liken them to razors that were poorly ground and flaky geometry.

I think that is is not the brand that makes a good smoker. You can find a decent pipes from no-name baskets as well. And sometimes even a brand known for quality makes a monday pieces (although not likely that often).
In general, there are two common brands that has never let me down: Stanwell and Savinelli.
Just pick up a shape of your choice and test that the draw is ok. Some prefer straights, i'm more with slighly bents. Some use filters, i do not. Some like p-lips, some don't; i've only tried one pipe with p-lip and can't say this or that.
Then it's all impossible for me to recommend a pipe tobacco. There are so many different tastes and strengths so it just for you to try. Maybe getting some samples from the local store might guide you in the direction you want.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Thanked: 369Book recommendation:
May be a bit outdated, but I still enjoy skimming through once in a while. Might be good for beginners.

Having a break while watching doggies swim for the first time after the ice has gone. Water is still freezing cold.
Black coffee & Kratermischung from Hardcastle pipe. Kratermischung is a blend from Netherlands. Mid strenght, VA, dark fired Kentucky and black cavendish. Sweet tin scent but not 'aromatic' taste at all.
