That colored really quickly. Beautiful bowl BTW. I fooled with a couple of Meerschum pipes back in the '80s. Richard Hacker's Ultimate Pipe Book recommended smoking them with a cloth over the bowl to prevent oils from the fingers mottling the color. I did that but it became more trouble than it was worth for me. They don't form a cake in the bowl IIRC. Anyway, cool pipe.

In spite of the garage being around 100 degrees F this afternoon I enjoyed a big bowl of OJK in my new Boswell Canadian. This OJK is just one perfect blend that always leaves you in a nice reflective mood.

Also, a picture of some hard to find or limited edition releases. All the tins are sealed and a few I had to find in Germany. I always enjoyed retaining some limited edition Cuban cigars and now with me switching to a pipe I can find limited edition tobacco's for a tenth of the price of the Cubans. : )

Really cool Bob. I am familiar with the Three Nuns, the Pelikan, and the Penzance, though I haven't smoked any of them in many moons. Funny to see that antique with the corded handset and numbers on your desk ....... I forgot about those .......

I am enjoying a basket pipe of Shortcut to Mushrooms on the porch after work and dinner. I was at the range today working out some S&W revolvers and a couple M14s for work. Fun stuff.

Yeh, I was surprised by how quick the colour started coming. It was getting pink round the top after just one smoke. I've heard of using a cloth to touch it. I haven't bothered with that so far, but maybe I'll look into it. It sounds like either it could be worth it for a nice looking pipe or it could be messing about for no obvious benefit. I'll try to find some comparison pictures.

Friday evening pipe. Capstan blue (the old version) from Bauer of Austria.
Haven't smoked the old version for a long time but rather cellaring those tins i have. As the manufacturer changed the old stock is gone forever.
I always liked it but now it was even better than i remembered. Aging for several years has done wonders.

Do you hold your meerschaum with a cloth? I've been trying to find out if it's worth the small effort.
